Eva Carboni , is a blues singer and songwriter, born in Sassari, Sardinia. She is a vocalist known for blending blues, rock, and jazz. Her wide vocal range spans from warm tones to soaring high notes, creating emotionally rich performances across diverse musical styles.

Early life

Daughter of a herbalist mother and a father born and raised in France, who despite being a talented swing singer, chose to dedicate himself to something else in life, but always keeping music as a passion that he passed on to his daughter since she was a child. From a young age, Eva Carboni experimented with her voice across various musical styles, always returning to her deep passion for the blues, which began at age 11 when she first listened to Janis Joplin. She later met renowned vocal coach Elisabeth Howard (Sting, Lionel Richie) and graduated in singing under her tutelage at the esteemed Vocal Power Academy in Los Angeles.. [1]

The British producer and songwriter Andy Littlewood of Mad Ears Productions, heard her sing in a live show in 2016 and proposed to her to sing on the track 'River of Life' by blues rock guitarist Mick Simpson. [2] She was featured on his album 'Black Rain', which was played on BBC Radio 2 by Paul Jones. [3]

Since then an intense collaboration has been born between Eva Carboni and Andy Littlewood which has led to the publication of three albums with Mad Ears Productions: Italia Square(2019), Smoke and Mirrors(2022) and Blues Siren (17 November 2024). She has also released various singles and a six-track EP called In The Name of The Blues(2024). [4]

One of her most popular songs, 'Love Me Tonight', has already reached a few million views on YouTube, Spotify,and YouTube Music, [17] and youtube.music [18] The gospel ballad "New Day Calling" has been licensed for use on the soundtrack to the film "Distant Sun".

Her albums feature contributions from a range of top musicians, including Mick Simpson (co-writer with Andy Littlewood of "Love Me Tonight"), Vic Martin (Gary Moore) [19] (co-writer with Andy Littlewood of "I've Paid My Dues"), as well as Andrius Linsdell, Pete Nelson, Giovanni Bruno, Bob Steves and Dave Hunt.

Career

Her first 14-track album, Italia Square was released in 2019. It includes the blues ballad "Love Me Tonight," written by Mick Simpson and Andy Littlewood, which helped bring her into the spotlight on the international blues scene.

Smoke and Mirrors (2022), features 12 tracks written by Andy Littlewood, including "That Night," co-written by Eva and Andy, marking her official debut as a songwriter. Greg "Bluesdog" Szalony writes in Blues Blast: “Thankfully her accent is minor, causing a few words to pass your ears, but not biggie. Her voice is so strong and sexy that you hardly notice…Aw shucks…This lady’s voice can move mountains.." [20]

In December 2023, Eva Carboni released the single "The Magic," written by Eva Carboni and Andy Littlewood, while working on her new album. [21] The song is a motivational anthem, celebrating the search for one's identity and inner strength.

The EP In The Name of The Blues was released in early 2024 and features a combination of rock and blues across 6 tracks. It has been ranked number 17 in the IBBA’s (Independent Blues Broadcasters Associations) 40 most played radio albums. [22]

Blues Siren, the new 13-track album by Eva Carboni, has been released on November 17, 2024, following a few days earlier release of an alternate version of "Slow Road to Redemption." The album combines elements of blues and rock, with a couple of jazz tracks that evoke a retro, old-style atmosphere.

Several notable collaborations feature in the album. The tracks "Blues Siren," "In the Streets of London," and "Wrong Place Wrong Time" were co-written by Eva Carboni and Andy Littlewood. The song "I've Paid My Dues" resulted from a collaboration between Vic Martin, the renowned English Hammond player (Gary Moore, Eurithmics, BeeGees) [23], and Andy Littlewood. The rock ballad "Alive and Breathing" was written by the Slovakian composer Marian Zima [24] and Andy Littlewood, while the blues ballad "You've Gotta Change" was penned by Andy Littlewood and Mick Simpson. The remaining tracks were written solely by Andy Littlewood, with Mick Simpson contributing his guitar on most of the album's songs.

The album has since been featured on numerous radio shows, reviews and interviews globally, Europe, UK, USA, Australia, Latin America and even China. An entire three-hour broadcast on Eva Carboni, broadcast in Palm Springs, California, a second live interview(the first was about 'In the Name of The Blues')on a radio station in Montevideo, Uruguay, in Spanish, a language she quickly learns to be able to answer questions live.

Eva Carboni is, with her album 'Blues Siren', among the top 20 nominees in the category 'UK Blues Album Of The Year' of the 'UK Blues Awards 2025'. [25] , [26]

It has placed several times in numerous industry charts:

on the IBBA Top 40 Chart , in the Hit-Tracks Top 100,  it has been in the top positions on The Roots Music Report since its release, both in the Top 50 Contemporary Blues Album Chart and she is still there  [28] and in the Top 50 Blues Album Chart to name a few, as well as the song or album of the week on various radio stations. 

She is also in the Top Contemporary Blues Album Chart for the Year of 2024 [29] Eva Carboni is 'Editor's Choice Award' winner from 'Musica Magazine' by AudioSparx, for April 2025 for her track 'Dark Clouds’. [30]

In recent years, Eva Carboni has performed alongside musicians such as Mick Simpson and Vic Martin (Gary Moore) [31], as well as Pete Rees (Gary Moore), Derek Wilson, and Mario Schilliro (Zucchero). She has also collaborated with artists including Buddy Guy, Marco Mendoza, Roy Rogers, and Sergio Caputo [32] [33]. Her current band features renowned musicians, including Vic Martin, Mick Simpson, Pete Rees, and Graham Walker.
