Hello @ProgrammingGeek:! If you have any questions, put them here. Try reading most of the pages below. Dat GuyTalkContribs 16:15, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
@ProgrammingGeek: I will be checking your reverts now and then to see if you're doing well and following the procedure. If after a set number of reverts (that I'm choosing) all is well, you'll get pass the course. Dat GuyTalkContribs 10:27, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
- @DatGuy: Great! I'll keep fighting vandalism and look forward to passing. Thanks for mentoring me! ProgrammingGeek (Page! • Talk! • Contribs!) 10:28, 22 July 2016 (UTC)

Key policiesKey pagesPatrollingOne of the easiest places to track down vandalism is at Special:RecentChanges - this lists the most recent changes made all over the 'pedia. How to deal with itHave you enabled Twinkle? You'll find it has a lot of features which make reverting and warning vandals a lot easier. More help on how to use it can be found here. You can then follow these steps:
Tasks1. Find and remove three pieces of blatant vandalism using Twinkle - provide the diffs of your reverts below:
2. Report one vandal to WP:AIV, ensuring you follow this procedure - provide the diff of your report below: 3. What would you do if an IP address kept re-adding vandalism after you reverted them?
I would warn them on their talk page, and if ignored then report them to AIV. If a lot of IPs were vandalizing a page, I would do an IP lookup to see if they were from a similar location, and share the results on AIV.
4. What would you do if a logged in editor kept re-adding vandalism after you reverted them?
Same procedure as an IP editor, but if a lot of users were vandalizing an article at the same time I'd open a sockpuppet investigation.
5. What would you do if an established editor (eg. 1 year old, 100 edits) vandalized a page?
This is weird. If there was no prior history of vandalism, it might be a hijacked account, and that would be brought up when reporting the user at AIV after warnings. |
