Industrial Control Design (ICD) is a software company and manufacturer of Control Design Platform based in Ålesund, Norway and founded in 2001.
History
Industrial Control Design was established to fill an evident lack in the global marketplace of advanced tools for creating truly distributed control systems with complex graphical user interfaces based on the use of Industrial PCs.
Products
The first version of Control Design Platform saw the light of day in 2002 and has since been further developed and refined. In 2005 Rolls-Royce Marine decided to use Control Design Platform in their common control platform and is currently basing all of their control systems on ICD’s platform.

Control Design Platform (CDP) is the name of a control system software package developed and maintained by Industrial Control Design. CDP is a development environment and a middleware supporting the full software lifecycle for control systems based on Industrial PCs.
Distributed in nature
Control systems made by using CDP is inherently distributed in its nature. Communication between CDP-based controllers in a network is taken care of by the middleware. The middleware supports the autodetection of new controllers in a network and facilitates thereby the creation of redundant systems.
Redundant solutions
CDP supports redundant control solutions using disparate hardware and Operating systems, thereby adding a layer of safety due to the avoidance of OS software failures which potentially can bring down both the active and the standby controller. Double-, triple- and even quadruple-redundancy is supported.
Software lifecycle support
CDP comes with an array of useful tools for design, implementation, testing, installation, commissioning and live operation of control systems.
Operating system dependencies
Control systems based on CDP may run on WindowsXP(e), Linux or RTOS-32.
