Early Life

Since childhood, Captain Khalid always somehow been attempted to be the center of attention. His comedy influence came from his family - according to Khalid “people in my family are really funny, especially my mother.” This environment helped develop his laid back yet cuttingly sharp sense of humor. His desire to achieve notoriety also came from his family – with his parents being prominent in Tanzania, Captain Khalid realized that using their name made his life easier. Not content to achieve success off the back of someone else drove Captain Khalid to want to create a name for himself.

Comedy Beginnings

In 2011 Captain Khalid moved to Malaysia for his University Degree at SEGi University. While there he struggled to find even part-time work. His cousin, in the same University, insisted with Khalid's humor he should try standup comedy. Not long after, he had his first gig at a university engineering event. The show was successful and this allowed Khalid to pitch the idea of once-a-semester comedy show to the dean of the school, Dato. Dr Jamaludin (R .I.P). This became the first show he produced which was called the “Comedy Cage”. Knowing comics wanted to perform in the universities, he came up with an idea to put the top local comedians on one stage and bring the best comedy possible. His start in comedy landed him a supporting role in Malaysian award winning film "The Men Who Save The World" (Lelaki Harapan Dunia-2014)

After graduating from university in 2014, Captain Khalid moved back to Tanzania to hone his craft and further develop local standup comedy. In Dec 2015, "The FunnyFellas" was created, co-founded by his close friend Fahad. The Comedy Show aimed to bring popular East African comedians on one stage in Tanzania. In May 2016 the show premiered successfully and helped propel stand-up comedy in Tanzania from a small niche to mainstream entertainment.

The success of the "Funny Fellas" allowed Khalid to work with Azam TV in June 2018, on the Eid Comedy Special which aired nationwide. Towards the end iof 2016, Captain moved to Berlin and later Hamburg, Germany and continued performing in English. At the same time Khalid, using his marketing degree and his passion for stand-up comedy, set up "The Funny Fellas Europe " - that went on to introduce the Hamburg International Comedy Showcase. Captain Khalid then set Hamburg, Germany as his base and used that as platform to develop his stand-up skills and continue touring around the world. In 2017, Khalid under The FunnyFellas created Hamburg International Comedy Festival which brings comedians around the world to perform in Hamburg throughout the summer.

Later in the year Khalid started his first solo comedy show around Germany called "Renew my Visa" and toured globally with the comedy show "Story Party." Khalid then launched his 2nd solo show "I Think I'm Single" which achieved rave reviews, sold out theatres around the world, and helped grow his fan base, especially in Malaysia and Singapore.

Current Shows Khalid is currently on a global tour with his follow-up show "I Think I'm Single 2." Due to his growing popularity and the show's success, in early 2019 he signed a partnership deal with IFLIX Malaysia - the premium video streaming service throughout Asia.
