Joseph DiDomizio (born 1970) is an American business executive best known for leading Hudson Group and serving as Divisional Chief Executive Officer for North America at Dufry (now Avolta). He oversaw Hudson’s operations across North America during a period of major expansion and led the company through its 2018 initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange.
Early life and education
DiDomizio earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and Business Administration from the University of Bridgeport.
Career
DiDomizio began his career in the retail travel industry with Hudson in the early 1990s, rising through operational and business development roles.
Chief Operating Officer (2004–2008)
As Chief Operating Officer, DiDomizio led business development and operations as Hudson expanded from approximately 35 to more than 55 airports and transportation terminals across North America. Revenue increased from roughly $300 million to $632 million by 2008 through a focus on operational management empowerment, accountability, and investment in distribution efficiency.
Chief Executive Officer (2008–2019)
Appointed CEO in 2008, DiDomizio guided Hudson through the 2008–2010 global financial crisis while maintaining profitability and achieving significant growth. Under his leadership, Hudson’s revenue increased from about $632 million in 2008 to $1.9 billion by 2018, while EBITDA rose from $70 million to $238 million, according to company filings.[1] He also oversaw Hudson’s strategic integration into Dufry, which acquired a controlling interest in the company in 2008.
In 2018, DiDomizio led Hudson Ltd.’s $749 million initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange, marking the largest U.S. retail IPO since Michael Kors in 2011.[2] Hudson began trading under the ticker symbol HUD on February 1, 2018, following the sale of 39.4 million shares at $19.00 per share.[3]
During DiDomizio’s tenure, Hudson grew to nearly 1,000 stores in 89 North American locations, diversifying its retail concepts to include convenience, specialty, and digital formats. He stepped down as CEO in January 2019 and was succeeded by Roger Fordyce.[4]

DiDomizio appeared on Season 5 of Undercover Boss on the CBS network in an episode that aired on January 31, 2014, focusing on Hudson Group operations.[5][6]
