Spencer Capital Holdings From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Spencer Capital Holdings was founded in 2011 by Chairman Kenneth H. Shubin Stein. [1] The global holdings company owns Spencer Re, a reinsurance firm focused on the American auto dealership industry, and is affiliated with Spencer Capital Management, a value-oriented investment management firm. [2] 

On February 2, 2015 Spencer Capital Management announced its acquisition of USA Risk, an independent captive insurance manager based in Barre, Vermont. [3]


Spencer Capital Management

Spencer Capital Management, LLC, is a deep value-oriented investment management firm affiliated with Spencer Capital Holdings. It was formed in 2003 by portfolio manager Kenneth H. Shubin Stein. [4]Dr. Shubin Stein is also the founder and chairman of Spencer Capital Holdings. [5]

Spencer Capital Management takes a scientific approach to investing and has a successful track record of investing in undervalued securities and special situations.[6]


Spencer Re

Spencer Re is a Puerto Rico based reinsurance firm focused on reinsuring products that are predictable in nature, including insurance products sold by American auto dealers, direct marketers and loan providers. [7] INSERT 8


In 2014, Spencer Re hired Tina Youngblood Mallie as CEO and Brian Feldman as Executive Vice President. [8] [9]Prior to joining Spencer Re, Brian Feldman was a national sales leader at Allstate. [10] Tina Youngblood Mallie was previously US CEO of Cunningham Lindsey Group Ltd., and prior to this held various roles at Zurich Insurance Group Ltd. Tina has also served as vice chair of Spencer Capital Holdings since 2013. [11]


USA Risk

USA Risk is an insurance manager based in Barre, Vermont. It was founded in 1981 by H Lincoln Miller Jr. and Gary Osborne is currently the president. [12]The company has $9 billion in assets under management, and has operations in Arizona, Barbados, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, Grand Cayman, Malta, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vermont, through which it services 20 captive domiciles inside and outside the US market. [13]

USA Risk is the largest independent captive insurance manager in the world, according to Business Insurance’s latest rankings. [14]
