I've been contributing to the English wikipedia since 2001, first as the user firehawk and under this current username.
I'm a medical doctor (M.B.,B.S. (Sydney)) currently working and living in Sydney, having completed medical school in the University of Sydney.
Previously hooked on everything2 (userpage), I became addicted to wikipedia early on, realizing that this could be the next big thing (tm). A free encyclopedia, written by people on the Internet at large, under a free license, freely downloadable ... wikipedia continues to have all the requirements for becoming the greatest reference the world has ever had.
I think of it as contributing to overall human knowledge.
