Abubakar MB Abdulhamid (born 21 March 1996) is a Nigerian biomedical engineer, educator, and researcher. He is known for his work in medical equipment maintenance, biomedical technology management, and engineering education in Nigeria.

Early life and education

Abdulhamid was born in Bindawa, Katsina State, Nigeria. He attended Community Nursery and Primary School, Bindawa, graduating in 2007, followed by Government Junior Secondary School, Bindawa (2010) and Government Science Secondary School, Bindawa (2013). He briefly studied Microbiology at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University before receiving the Katsina State Special Foreign Scholarship Award in 2015 to study abroad. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2019.[1]

Career

From 2019 to 2020, Abdulhamid served as a biomedical engineer during his National Youth Service Corps posting at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria. He later worked as Principal Biomedical Engineer at the Katsina State Health Services Management Board and as Senior Biomedical Engineer at Turai Umaru Yar’adua Maternity and Children Hospital.

In May 2024, Abdulhamid joined the Federal Medical Centre, Daura, as Biomedical Engineer I, where he is head of the department and is responsible for installation, training of staff, maintenance, and servicing of medical devices. He has also lectured at Cherish College of Health Science and Technology, Batsari, and Cognate College of Health Science and Technology.

Abdulhamid has led or contributed to several technical projects, including:

  • Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Management System (2024)
  • Birth and Death Control Management System (2023)
  • Portable Wireless Bluetooth Model (2018–2019)

He presented at the 6th Annual Scientific Conference/Induction of the Association of Biomedical Engineers and Technologists of Nigeria with a paper titled Sustainable Biotechnology Advancements in Biomedical Research.[2]
