Template:Expression of concern
(This paper currently has an expression of concern)
Usage
This template is used to mark citations with active expression of concerns.
Using
Smith, J. (2008). "Foobar." ''Journal of Barfoo''. '''5''':12. {{expression of concern}}
gives
- Smith, J. (2008). "Foobar." Journal of Barfoo. 5:12. (This paper currently has an expression of concern)
If the article with an expression of concern is intended to be cited, for example while discussing the role of the publication in a controversy, then use {{expression of concern|intentional=yes}} instead, which gives
- Smith, J. (2008). "Foobar." Journal of Barfoo. 5:12. (This paper currently has an expression of concern)
If it's not intended to be cited, the citation should be removed per WP:RS, and the content of the article updated accordingly.
If a link to the expression of concern is desired, you can use
Smith, J. (2008). "Foobar." ''Journal of Barfoo''. '''5''':12. {{expression of concern|doi=10.1371/journal.pone.0299122|intentional=yes}}
which gives
- Smith, J. (2008). "Foobar." Journal of Barfoo. 5:12. (This paper currently has an expression of concern, see doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0299122)
The expression of concern identifier links |bibcode= (for bibcodes), |doi= (for DOIs), |pmc= (for PMCIDs), and |pmid= (for PMIDs) are supported. Failing that, {{expression of concern|https://...}} is also supported for a generic web link.
The template works with citation templates too, for example
*{{cite journal |last1=Nanduri |first1=Jayasri |last2=Vaddi |first2=Damodara Reddy |last3=Khan |first3=Shakil A. |last4=Wang |first4=Ning |last5=Makarenko |first5=Vladislav |last6=Semenza |first6=Gregg L. |last7=Prabhakar |first7=Nanduri R. |title=HIF-1α Activation by Intermittent Hypoxia Requires NADPH Oxidase Stimulation by Xanthine Oxidase |journal=PLOS ONE |date=9 March 2015 |volume=10 |issue=3 |article-number=e0119762 |doi=10.1371/journal.pone.0119762 |doi-access=free}} {{expression of concern|doi=10.1371/journal.pone.0299122 |intentional=yes}}
gives
- Nanduri, Jayasri; Vaddi, Damodara Reddy; Khan, Shakil A.; Wang, Ning; Makarenko, Vladislav; Semenza, Gregg L.; Prabhakar, Nanduri R. (9 March 2015). "HIF-1α Activation by Intermittent Hypoxia Requires NADPH Oxidase Stimulation by Xanthine Oxidase". PLOS ONE. 10 (3) e0119762. doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0119762. (This paper currently has an expression of concern, see doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0299122)
Do not use this template in the fields of citation templates such as Citation Style 1 and Citation Style 2, as the HTML markup will be rendered in the metadata for that field.
