Proposing article updates (2025)
Hello, I have been approached by French Development Agency to help update their Wikipedia article. I have prepared suggested updates based solely on verifiable and reliable sources. Since I have a financial connection to the company, I will not edit the article directly. Instead, I will share my proposed edits here on the Talk page for independent editors to review and consider if appropriate. Could editors please have a look at the 4 updates and improvements I’m suggesting? I suggest that @User:Boubloub, who was the last to contribute to the page, review this suggestion.
Start of requests
1/ Clarify and update the lead section by replacing it with the following text.
The French Development Agency (French: Agence française de développement, AFD) is a public financial institution that serves France’s interests , and complements France’s diplomatic action around the world[1]. Active in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, the Indo-Pacific, the Caribbean, and France’s overseas territories, the agency finances and supports projects that improve living conditions, foster economic growth, and protect the planet.[2] AFD funds and supports roughly 2,700 projects across 115 countries and overseas territories. Its 2,600 staff members are based in Paris, Marseille, and a network of 85 offices worldwide.
2/ Delete this table "Financing allocated by AFD Group in 2014 (EUR million)", which contains outdated data with primary sources.
3/ Delete the section "AFD departments and subsidiaries" along with its subsections and content, which are outdated and poorly sourced.
4/ At the end of the History section, add this sentence:
A new French law enacted in 2021 established the AFD Group, bringing together Proparco, Expertise France, and AFD.[3]
End of requests
There’s still a lot that needs improvement, but you have to start somewhere! If anyone has questions on these suggested changes, I will do my best to answer them on this Talk page. Thank you.

- Thanks! For the lead section I would suggest the text amended as below, with references unchanged from the AFD's suggestions. The other edits look fine.
