Removed text
A few old points I removed from "Advantages" because they didn't seem to fit:
- Location transparency
- Hardware independence
- Distributed DBMS
- Operating system independence
- Network independence
- Replicated transparency
- Distributed transaction management
Some of these are features instead of advantages (like DTM). Distributed DBMS might be a bit pointless unless explained. Some of these might be added again with explanations.
History
This article also needs a history section. I know that IBM was among the pioneers of distributed databases. Sam Tomato (talk) 20:38, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Lists need clear and encyclopedic inclusion criteria (not "some random examples"). Secondly, the lead section should summarize information from the main text, not introduce new information on its own (MOS:LEAD). Also, noteworthy details should be based on independent reliable sources in encyclopedic context, not on self-published websites or other PR platforms. GermanJoe (talk) 03:29, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
