MI5 interview

A sentence under Early Life and Career says : "After university, while waiting for his broken leg to heal from an amateur football incident he applied for and failed both Civil Service exams, before being asked to apply for MI5 — he failed the second interview. " ..followed by a 'citation needed' link.

There's a very recent interview in the Guardian where he discusses and corroborates this. I would add it as a citation but the page is locked :
