Plot
This article's plot summary may be too long or excessively detailed. (August 2026) |
A Gonsuke delivery robot from the 22nd century carries a package resembling a dorayaki ordered by Nobita. Unable to identify the name of the location of the package due to the order's poor handwriting, he ends up dropping the package off to the future year of 2011, where Nobita is an adult and married to his childhood crush Shizuka, with the package landing in the room of the couple's son Nobisuke, named after Nobita's father.
Over at a rugby field, Nobisuke secures another score for his team before the time runs out, but it still ends up being a loss for the team. Nobisuke blames both Suneki and Yasashiku, the future sons of Nobita's childhood bullies Suneo and Gian respectively, for slacking and causing the team to lose. He chases them both around for a bit, with Yasashiku breaking down in tears and Suneki comforting him.
After returning back home, Nobisuke asks his mom Shizuka for a snack, but she rejects and tells him to go upstairs and clean up his room. Shizuka starts reading a book until Nobisuke struggles to close his desk's drawer upon having entered his room, she tells him to stop making noise and he closes his room's window where the living room can be viewed from before noticing the dorayaki shaped package in his room's trash bin.
Gian shows up at Nobita and Shizuka's house with Yasashiku. Shizuka notices that Yasashiku crying and attempts to call Nobisuke to come down, but Gian tells her to relax, as he wants them to take care of him for a bit. Gian calls for Nobisuke despite him not having finished cleaning his room and Yasashiku heads upstairs to Nobisuke's room.
As their playtime begins, Nobisuke notices the package again and tries to give it to Yasashiku, but he keeps refusing it, leading to Nobisuke growing frustrated each time before throwing the package in Yasushiku's face.
Shizuka, holding drinks for the two boys, sees Yasashiku running downstairs from Nobisuke's room in tears, with the package tumbling downstairs as well. Mad at her son, Shizuka is about to confront Nobisuke about what happened, until Dorami shows up out of his room's desk drawer. Nobisuke and Shizuka are both surprised at her sudden appearance, Shizuka delighted and Nobisuke left both confused and shocked. Nobisuke asks if she was his father's childhood friend Doraemon, to which she corrects him that he was her older brother and that she is his sister Dorami.
Yasashiku, out on the streets, trips and opens the package, revealing a red colored Mini-Dora lying inside, which awakens and jumps onto him.
Back at the Nobi house, Dorami asks Shizuka if the package containing Mini-Dora had delivered to their house, to which she answers that she hasn't seen it. Dorami then asks Nobisuke if he knows anything, he answers that he doesn't know. Dorami is left confused, finding it strange, as the space-time delivery had said that the package had been delivered there.
Mini-Dora starts holding on to Yasashiku's clothes and crawls all over him as he starts heading in the opposite direction of where he had been going before. Yasashiku takes this as Mini-Dora wanting to play with him, to which he answers a form of yes in actions and "Mini-Dora" language, still holding onto his clothes.
Over at the house, Shizuka asks Dorami how a Mini-Dora ended up delivered over to their location, and Dorami tells her that it was Nobita's fault, before quickly correcting herself in the context of their timeline that it was Nobita in his childhood who ordered the package, not the adult Nobita married to Shizuka. Hearing this, Nobisuke glances at a photograph of both his father during his childhood with Doraemon inside a family photo album he had started going through.
Nobisuke asks Dorami if he had done something wrong, before Shizuka then asks him if he had finished his homework and tells him that his room is still not cleaned up, pointing upstairs. She makes him go finish those first before he can delve deeper into the situation. Nobisuke reluctantly heads upstairs to his room before Shizuka asks Dorami once he's in his room why her husband had done what he did. Dorami explains to Shizuka that Nobita had ordered the Mini-Dora via the future but because his writing was so bad the computer couldn't properly read the address correctly, with her having showed up to retrieve him, worried that bad things could happen if someone else were to find it and get their hands on him.
In his room, Nobisuke realizes that the package he threw at Yasashiku earlier might have been the same one containing Mini-Dora, so leaves the house through his room's window to try and get it back.
Meanwhile, Yasashiku heads over to the house of the successful and powerful rich man Suneo Honekawa in order to see Suneki and show him the Mini-Dora that he got. Yasashiku asks him what is it that he has, Suneki deducts that he does want to play with Yasashiku and remarks at how Mini-Dora resembles a tanuki. The remark angers Mini-Dora, to which Suneki dismisses because of the powerful technology around to serve the citizens of the future, seeing him as nothing more than a machine and teasingly calls him a tanuki again. Mini-Dora, further upset at this, attacks Suneki, jumping on his face and stepping on his face in rapid succession. Suneki apologizes and Mini-Dora stops hurting him. Suddenly, a pod rises up from the water inside the area and reveals Suneki's father Suneo, who had just finished taking an afternoon nap inside the pod.
Suneo then recognizes the Mini-Dora's appearance as resembling that of Doraemon, who Suneki asks his dad who he was, Suneo explains that Doraemon was someone who used to live at Nobita's house and pulled all kinds of futuristic gadgets from his pocket. Before he could explain further of his memories with Doraemon, Suneo has to leave to go to Singapore and heads off, also giving Yasashiku permission to stay as long as he wants to before heading off.
Yasashiku and Suneki decide to try and get Mini-Dora to pull whatever gadgets from his pocket out to go on an adventure after Yasashiku pulls out a Mini-Dora instruction booklet that came with Mini-Dora in the package. Before they can start, Mini-Dora runs away and both Suneki and Yasashiku run after him throughout the streets and city of the 22nd century until they stop at a place to buy snacks with dorayaki available. Suneki buys a bag of dorayaki and after eating one Yasashiku gives to him in one bite, pulls out the Anywhere Door, though because of its smaller size Suneki and Yasashiku only see a watery view. Suneki tries to squeeze his head through the door entrance, only for Yukari swimming around in the water's end to see Suneki's head and splashes water on both him and Yasashiku, much to Mini-Dora's amusement.
Suneki, Yasashiku, and Mini-Dora head over to the empty lot. Suneki questions further how they'll be able to use the Anywhere Door when he suddenly sees Nobisuke walking on the streets through it. Suneki gets the idea to mess with Nobisuke, tripping him over and calling him stupid. Nobisuke sees that Suneki's head is coming out from somewhere else, and sees that he and Yasashiku are in the empty lot, so starts heading over there, dragging Suneki from having grabbed him by his clothing. Yasashiku feeds Mini-Dora another dorayaki and Mini-Dora pulls out a Thunder Cloud to try and stop Nobisuke, but doesn't affect his rampage with how small it is.
With Nobisuke coming for them, Suneki, Yasashiku, and Mini-Dora go hide in the back of a supermarket called "Gian's". Nobisuke ends up finding all three of them easily and beats up Suneki and Yasashiku. He gets ahold of Mini-Dora and tells Suneki and Yasashiku that they should return him to Dorami, to which both Suneki and Yasashiku express confusion as to who she is. Nobisuke tells them that Dorami is a robot who arrived to take Mini-Dora back with her, but they refuse, with Nobisuke deciding that they should play together.
Nobisuke, Yasashiku and Suneki play with Mini-Dora, trying to unsuccessfully fly using small sized Takecopters, wave hello to a woman from another part of the world using the small sized Anywhere Door, and shooting each other with the small sized Air Cannons, all the while Dorami is tracking down Mini-Dora's exact location using the Time TV.
Hours later at nighttime, Nobisuke, Suneki and Yasashiku return to the back of the "Gian's" supermarket, placing Mini-Dora inside to hide him for a while until they return from having dinner with their families. Just as they are about to leave, Dorami confronts the boys holding the package case she found near Nobisuke's place and demands that they return Mini-Dora to her. Yasashiku hands Mini-Dora over to her, but before she can take him back, a cockroach crawls next to her, causing her to freak out due to her hatred of cockroaches, giving Nobisuke, Yasashiku, and Suneki a chance to run away with Mini-Dora in hand, just wanting to play with him a little bit longer.
Nobisuke, Suneki, and Yasashiku enter the "Gian's" supermarket and feed Mini-Dora another dorayaki in order for him to pull out a gadget to use in order to get away from Dorami. Mini-Dora pulls out a Labyrinth Globe, causing the supermarket to transform into a supermarket labyrinth with long, massive rows. Lost in the supermarket and after calling out for boys, Dorami pulls out the Bunny Ears, which she uses to hear wherever the boys are at and pulls out the Jet Flower in order to fly over to where they are at.
Nobisuke, Suneki, and Yasashiku, still lost in the store and exhausted, decide to feed another dorayaki to Mini-Dora to have him pull out something that can help them escape the labyrinth. But just after feeding Mini-Dora another dorayaki, Yasashiku points out to the others that whatever he pulls out is very small, leaving them unable to fit. Mini-Dora pulls out a small sized Solar Yacht, proving the statement correct. Dorami arrives and the boys hide from her, making her mad until she sees the location of where the Labyrinth Globe is. After the boys feed Mini-Dora yet another dorayaki and beg for anything to use, he pulls out a Small Light.
As Nobisuke, Yasashiku, Suneki and Mini-Dora shrink themselves using the Small Light and enter the Solar Yacht, Dorami uses an Air Cannon to destroy the Labyrinth Globe, restoring the supermarket to normal. Dorami tries to find where the boys went to, but is unable to find them anywhere, so returns back to Nobisuke's house after informing Gian and Suneo of their sons' statuses and she tells Shizuka. Shizuka, Suneo and Gian worry about their children as Nobisuke, Mini-Dora, Suneki, and Yasashiku end up trapped underwater inside of the Solar Yacht, with energy low due to not being in the sunlight and increasing underwater pressure crushing the Yacht. The boys start to cry out for their parents while Mini-Dora at first cheerfully jumps around obliviously before being left confused.
Back at the Nobi house, Gian, Dorami, Suneo and Shizuka worry about the boys, with Gian crying for his son's life and Shizuka in tears until Nobita returns home telling everyone that it'll be fine. Gian grabs Nobita by the neck of his shirt at this, with Dorami, Suneo and Shizuka having to hold him back before explaining after Dorami asks how it's fine that he had placed a transmitter on Nobisuke at some point, allowing for his location to be found, to which Gian hugs him in joy before they all leave to save the boys.
Dorami speaks through the transmitter to Nobisuke, Suneki, Yasashiku, and Mini-Dora, telling them that Nobita had placed the transmitter as she and the adults ride a submarine to find them. She then tells the boys that if they go a little further they'll bump into an undersea cable since they're in the waters of Tokyo Bay. The boys work together to pilot the Solar Yacht, with Mini-Dora playfully messing around on Nobisuke and Yasashiku's shoulders.
The boys come across the cable, with Dorami telling them to follow the cable down. The boys are left unsure taking the advice, given the underwater pressure crushing the Yacht, but have no choice since the Yacht is low on energy. The pressure starts causing water to further leak inside the growing cracks inside the Yacht's walls, the boys try to hold on before Dorami tells them that they're almost at the underwater meadow, where the sun will rise and its energy will travel down the cable. The underwater meadow lights up thanks to the sun, powering the Yacht and causing it to go up to the surface, where the adults and Dorami go to inside their submarine.
Dorami uses the Big Light to grow the Solar Yacht, restoring Nobisuke, Yasashiku, Suneki, and Mini-Dora to normal size. Nobisuke, Suneki, and Yasashiku exit the Yacht and reunite with their parents. The boys apologize to Dorami and return Mini-Dora to her, with Nobita apologizing to Nobisuke for causing the entire situation years ago in his childhood. Nobisuke accepts as despite everything, he, Yasashiku, and Suneki were able to have fun. Mini-Dora escapes Dorami's grasp and holds on to Nobisuke's right arm, implying it wants to play with him again sometime. Everyone laughs and smiles together as Mini-Dora jumps and plays around, the submarine returning again to the world of the future.

Production
It was produced as a concurrent film alongside Doraemon: Nobita and the Birth of Japan. It is the first installment of the Dorami-chan short films and the work that made the character of Mini-Dora famous.
According to Fujiko F. Fujio, because Dorami had very few chances to appear and shine in the Doraemon manga, he felt bad for the fans, so by the time the 10th anniversary of the Doraemon feature films had started, the idea to make a film starring Dorami came up, leading to the beginning of production.[2]
Before creating a summary of the film's story, a meeting was held where the film's director Makoto Moriwaki and other animation staff shared many of their own ideas. Fujiko F. Fujio gave feedback in order to shape the story direction, with the "submarine ranch" featured in the story being an idea of his.[3]
