Wordsmith AI

Wordsmith AI Ltd is a British legal technology company headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland, with offices in London and New York City.[1][2] Founded in October 2023, the company develops an artificial intelligence platform for in-house corporate legal teams.[3][4] As of June 2026, Wordsmith has raised approximately US$100 million in venture capital funding.[5][6][7]

History

Wordsmith was founded in October 2023 by Ross McNairn, Volodymyr Giginiak, and Robbie Falkenthal.[1][3] McNairn previously co-founded a travel startup acquired by Skyscanner and served as Chief Product Officer at TravelPerk.[8][9] Giginiak and Falkenthal previously held roles at Meta Platforms, Microsoft, KPMG, and TravelPerk.[3]

In June 2024, the company raised US$5 million in a seed funding round led by Index Ventures, with participation from General Catalyst.[3][10] A Series A round followed in June 2025, raising US$25 million led by Index Ventures, which valued the company at over US$100 million.[4][5][11] The funding was used to scale its AI infrastructure and expand internationally.[4][11]

In July 2025, Wordsmith introduced a training program for in-house counsel focused on using AI tools in legal operations.[12] In June 2026, the company announced a US$70 million Series B round led by Highland Europe and Index Ventures to further develop its platform and expand in the United States.[13]
