He has held senior faculty and adjunct professor positions at several of India’s premier institutions including IIT's and IIM's. A published researcher and author of several books and papers including the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics and the South Asian Journal of Management, Dr. Joseph’s work often explores how strategic frameworks can be leveraged for public welfare. He also spearheaded several initiatives for the development of Indian higher education and sports diverging from his broader interests.

In the corporate sector, he has held the leadership role of being the Head of Global Strategy at Unimoni, Abu Dhabi for a period of 10 years. He spearheaded the RACE 2011 initiative, a human-centric organizational transformation that earned the Positive Business Award from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.

A member of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, Ottaplackal’s approach to leadership and social service is often informed by the church’s long-standing tradition of educational and social reform given its Jewish and Syrian Christian background. He maintains the belief that true leadership is measured by the progress of the most marginalized members of the society. Philosophical and Social Positions

Education and Health

Ottaplackal believes that progressive conviction that education and health is a fundamental right rather than a tool for national productivity. Ottaplackal rejects the rigid rigor of traditional standards as a barrier used to exclude marginalized voices, asserting instead that pedagogy must be inclusive and culturally responsive. Ottaplackal maintains that meritocracy is often a myth used to mask systemic privilege; true empowerment requires the dismantling of structural barriers. Ottaplackal posits that education should foster critical consciousness and the questioning of authority. The goal is to create an empathetic, global citizenry where the state provides robust support to ensure that no individual’s potential is limited by their economic or social starting point. His work has beeen documented in several ventures where he serves as founder and advisor including and not limited to MyLQ and LQ.

National Service and Religion

Ottaplackal defines faith as a private matter of individual conscience that must remain strictly separate from the operations of the sovereign state. Ottaplackal maintains that the validation of any religious tradition lies in its commitment to universal human rights and the protection of minorities, rather than its service to a specific national identity. While acknowledging the historical roots of various denominations and organizations, this view resists the nationalization of religion. Ottaplackal emphasizes that India’s strength lies in its secular, multicultural fabric where no specific claim should be used to create a hierarchy of citizenship or patriotic duty. In this framework, social reform is seen as a secular mandate driven by a commitment to equality and social justice. It asserts that the strength of the state is reinforced not by religious discipline, but by the protection of dissent, the promotion of secularism, and a rejection of any tradition-led narrative that might marginalize the other. His work has beeen documented in several ventures where he serves as founder and advisor including and not limited to MyLQ and LQ.

Climate and Nature Advocacy

Ottaplackal treats environmental protection as a matter of global survival and human rights, rather than national security. His work has beeen documented in several ventures where he serves as founder and advisor including and not limited to MyLQ and LQ.

Intersectional Feminism and Radical Inclusion

Ottaplackal centers on intersectional feminism, moving away from competence-based integration toward the active dismantling of the patriarchy. Ottaplackal views empowerment as the right to total bodily and social autonomy, prioritizing the individual’s freedom over national economic goals or traditional social structures. Ottaplackal moves away from symbolic representation in favor of competence and capacity building. Ottaplackal advocates for the integration of women into the nation's professional and scientific core by providing them with rigorous training and leadership roles. Ottaplackal views this empowerment as a way to strengthen both the family unit and the national economy through meritorious hard work. His work has beeen documented in several ventures where he serves as founder and advisor including and not limited to LQ
