Spaced is an indie rock band from Derby, England, formed in 2022. The group consists of Shaun Williams (vocals, guitar), Matt Williams (guitar), Aron Morter (bass), and Jamie Turton (drums). Known for their emotionally charged sound and DIY ethos, the band has released multiple singles and an EP, and has received airplay on several BBC radio platforms.

History

Spaced formed in 2022, originating from a connection between members who met while studying music at the University of Derby. The band began writing and performing locally, developing a sound blending post-punk, shoegaze, and indie rock influences.

Their debut single, "Poison", was released on 8 May 2023,[1] followed by the single "This Is Life" on 16 June 2023. Both tracks received airplay on BBC Introducing.[2]

On 1 March 2024, the band released their debut extended play, Lifeless, featuring four tracks: "Poison," "One Foot Out the Door," "Lifeless," and "Curtain Call." The EP continued to build the band’s regional audience and received further attention from BBC Radio Derby and BBC East Midlands.[3]

Their latest single, "Animal", was released on 31 January 2025, marking a more urgent and aggressive evolution in their sound.[4]
