Seoyeon Animation Ltd. (Korean: 서연애니메이션), also known as Seoyeon, Seo Yeon, SAL, or Seoyeon Productions, is a South Korean animation studio headquartered in Seoul. Founded in 1988, the studio is known for its extensive work in animation outsourcing, co-production, and digital animation services for television, film, and video games.
History
Seoyeon Animation was founded in 1988 and began as an outsourcing studio providing animation services for international productions. By the early 1990s, the studio contributed to major animated series such as The Simpsons, helping establish its reputation globally.
Throughout the decade, Seoyeon worked on a wide variety of Western animated productions, becoming a reliable partner for American studios.
During the 2000s, Seoyeon expanded into more high-profile productions, including work on The Proud Family and Avatar: The Last Airbender. The studio also increased its involvement in digital animation and co-production services.
In the 2010s and 2020s, Seoyeon contributed to streaming-era productions such as Gravity Falls and Smiling Friends. The studio continues to operate as a global animation partner while expanding into new media, including video game animation and original development.
