Seabob is an electrically powered watercraft manufactured by the German company Caygo AG. The vehicle is used as a water sled and underwater scooter and can operate both on the water surface and underwater.[1]

Seabob vehicles are primarily used for recreational water sports, yachting and diving applications.

Company history

Caygo AG is a German technology company based in Bad Salzuflen, Germany, specializing in electrically powered water scooter. The company became known for the development and production of the Seabob watercraft.[2]

Caygo was founded in 2007 by entrepreneur Peter Walpurgis.[3] [4]

The company develops electric-powered vehicles for recreational, yachting and diving applications.

During the 2010s, Caygo Group expanded internationally and established distribution and service networks in Europe, North America and Asia. In 2023, the company opened Caygo Asia Pacific in Singapore to support the Asia-Pacific market.[5]

Functionality

The Seabob is powered by an electric water jet propulsion system. Energy is supplied by lithium-ion batteries. The vehicle is controlled through body movement and steering motions using the wing sections of the craft.

The rider typically lies on the vehicle at the water surface or guides it underwater in front of the body.

Depending on the model, Seabob vehicles can reach speeds of more than 20 km/h, with some models capable of reaching approximately 35 km/h on the water surface.[6][7]

Certain models are designed for diving depths of up to 30 metres.[8]

With the introduction of the F5, two additional model variants were added to the series. The F5 S introduced increased propulsion power and higher operating speeds above and below the water surface. The F5 SR was introduced as a high-performance version of the F5 series with increased thrust and extended power levels.

Seabob F9

The F9 series is the latest model series of Seabob and was officially launched in 2025. The F9 was introduced a redesigned vehicle generation with reduced weight and optimized hydrodynamics. The series was designed in cooperation with Studio F. A. Porsche.[9]

The Seabob SE63 was developed in cooperation with Automobili Lamborghini and incorporates design elements associated with the Italian automobile manufacturer.
