Plot

The story follows the aftermath of, and the events leading up to, a catastrophic containment breach. The narrative is told through the eyes of Matthew Vestergaard and Jane Vestergaard, the former an accountant for the facility and the latter a researcher. Jane is helplessly frustrated at the commonality of containment breaches and the apathetic attitude towards such occurrences. She worries this could lead to a devastating containment breach and scrambles to find a solution. After the breach, Matthew decides to venture back within the facility without any knowledge of what has happened or true nature of his employer, with his only goal being saving his sister.

Characters

Matthew Vestergaard

Matthew Vestergaard is a common accountant at the main facility, without any knowledge to what is kept in the facility. During the time of the containment breach he, together with a few others who were outside, are left with no information on what happened. With rescue being unavailable, Matthew makes the decision to enter the facility and find his sister.

Jane Vestergaard

Jane Vestergaard is a researcher at Site 19-2 tasked with the observation and research of anomalies. During her employment, she witnesses multiple containment breaches, in which anomalies escape and wreak havoc within the site and the personnel suffering casualties. Concerned with the apathy of those around her, she starts searching for a solution to all this before it's too late.

Virgil Castro

Virgil Castro is a senior facility guard working on the perimeter of the facility. His only job is ensuring that nothing enters the site without permission. Despite having started out within the facility, later in his career he realized that the calmer yet boring position outside of a patrol officer was more for him. After the containment breach, he decides to aid his friend Matthew in finding his sister inside the facility despite the risk.

Jessica Persik

Jessica Persik is a senior researcher at Site 19-2, having been in her position for multiple years and holding a high level of authority within the site. Despite her experiences inside the facility, she remains light-hearted and easy going, seemingly meshing well with Jane, the two of them becoming friends. After Jessica finds out about Jane's sentiment, she decides to help her in some shape or form.

The Interviewer

A faceless entity within the facility, bearing only the symbol of Special Containment Procedures.

Setting

The story is set in Site 19-2, a facility built in an undisclosed part of Alaska. It is meant to contain as many anomalies as possible in a single location. The board had concerns during its concept period about containment breaches putting a colossal amount of anomalies at risk.

During the time before the containment breach, the facility housed over 100,000 active personnel and a third of all containable non-indestructible SCPs.
