Rob Montz is an American journalist and documentary filmmaker. He has worked as a contributing producer for Reason TV and is known for documentary films and commentary on culture, higher education, and free speech.[1]
Career
Montz has contributed video journalism for Reason TV.[1]
He directed the short documentary Silence U, which examines debates over free speech at American universities. The film was listed by the Anthem Film Festival and was discussed in connection with national reporting on campus politics.[2]
Montz and his work were referenced in the New York Times opinion article “How Liberal Colleges Breed Conservative Firebrands,” in which Montz was quoted discussing campus political dynamics in relation to his documentary work.[3]
Paradise Abandoned
In 2025, Montz released the mini-documentary Paradise Abandoned: Inside the Pacific Palisades Fire, which examined the aftermath of the Pacific Palisades wildfire. The Moving Picture Institute published an independent filmmaker spotlight on the project.[4]
