Reese Kerr is an American team roper from Texas who has competed in professional rodeo competition, including Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) events and other major team roping competitions in the United States. He was named the 2001 Resistol Rookie Header of the Year in team roping and later competed in the Olympic Command Performance Rodeo, an exhibition event held in connection with the 2002 Winter Olympics.[1]
At the Olympic Command Performance Rodeo in Salt Lake City, Utah, held in connection with the 2002 Winter Olympics, Kerr, who competed as a header, partnered with heeler Michael Jones and was listed in results as a first-place finisher in team roping.[2] He was also part of the United States team that won overall team gold in competition against Canada.[3]
Early life
Kerr is from Cotulla, Texas, and has been associated with South and Central Texas, including Comfort and Mason.[1][4]
Rodeo career
Kerr competed as a header in team roping and gained recognition in 2001 when he was named the Resistol Rookie Header of the Year. He subsequently recorded multiple wins and placements at professional rodeos and team roping events.[1][4]
In a 2008 interview with Team Roping Journal, Kerr discussed his competition career, horse training, and involvement in buying and selling roping horses.[4] He identified specific horses used in competition, including one named Chili Mac, and described raising and developing additional horses for team roping.[4]
During his career, Kerr recorded several documented placements in rodeo competition, including a second-place finish at the Denver rodeo and wins at Marble Falls and Los Fresnos.[4] He also won the Copenhagen Cup in Las Vegas.[4]
Kerr was active in Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) competition during the 2000s and appeared in official results listings and standings, with recorded placements in team roping heading during that period.[5][6]
Kerr competed at major rodeos including San Antonio and Houston and pursued qualification for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.[4]
In 2008, the Midland Reporter-Telegram listed Kerr, of Comfort, Texas, 11th in PRCA team roping heading standings with $13,587 in earnings.[5]
The 2018 PRCA Media Guide lists Reese Kerr Jr. among team roping heading winners in the 2001 playoffs and championships section.[6]

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
Kerr has competed at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. A Houston Chronicle editorial photograph shows Kerr competing in team roping at the event in 2009.[7]

In addition to rodeo, Kerr has been involved in business ventures in Texas. According to Team Roping Journal, he operated a convenience store in South Texas and later opened a business in Comfort, Texas.[4]
Kerr has also been associated with K5 Services, a business based in Mason, Texas.[8]
Personal life
Kerr is married to Serena Kerr. According to Team Roping Journal, the couple has three sons: T.R., Matthew, and Bailan.[4]
