Draft:Ray Main

  • Comment: Not seeing significant coverage about Main rather than work by him. WP:GNG looks for multiple references to significant coverage about the subject (in-depth, not just passing mentions) in reliable independent secondary sources with reputations for accuracy and fact-checking. Ray Main is a British architectural, interior, and luxury lifestyle photographer. He is noted for his multi-decade career as a photographic contributor to global design literature and major editorial publications, including a twenty-year association with The Times supplements.[1] His work spans high-end residential estates, luxury commercial hospitality properties, and marine superyacht interiors.

Career

Main originally trained formally in technical architectural photography before expanding his commercial practice in the early 1990s to encompass gardens, food, travel, and luxury interiors. He maintains active professional operations between London and Southern India.[citation needed]

For more than twenty years, Main worked on international assignments as a regular photographer for The Saturday Times Magazine and The Sunday Times Style Magazine.[citation needed] He has acted as the principal or featured photographer for numerous interior design monographs and lifestyle books, with definitive design texts being published across 10 global editions. [citation needed]

Notable book collaborations include serving as the photographer for Perfect Tables: Tabletop Secrets, Settings and Centerpieces for Delicious Dining alongside author and designer William Yeoward, published by CICO Books.[2] He collaborated as a photographer with author and lifestyle editor Vinny Lee on the design book Cool Pools and Hot Tubs, published by Jacqui Small.[3] Additionally, Main provided the photography for Lighting: A Design Source Book, written by Elizabeth Wilhide and published by Ryland Peters & Small.[4]

Commercial hospitality portfolio

Main's commercial architectural photography includes extensive commissions for international hotel chains and premium design manufacturers. He has worked extensively with the luxury Maybourne Hotel Group, providing the primary room, suite, and lifestyle photography used across the marketing literature, brochures, and global websites for historic London properties, notably Claridge's in Mayfair.[5][6] His hospitality photography captures complex heritage restorations, bespoke furniture installations, and upscale interior designs for high-profile hospitality marketing campaigns.[7]

Luxury marine and design monographs

In the luxury marine sector, Main specializes in documenting the highly complex internal geometry and bespoke lighting design of superyacht interiors.[citation needed] Rather than exterior ship photography, his work focuses on the craftsmanship of luxury interior outfitters and custom design houses.[citation needed] Notable projects include photographing the interior design work of RWD (Redman Whiteley Dixon), Todhunter Earle Interiors, and European artisan firm Zijlstra Interiors for vessels built by shipyards such as Benetti and Royal Huisman.[citation needed]

He served as a featured photographer for the design monograph Modern English: Todhunter Earle Interiors, authored by Helen Chislett and published by Vendome Press, which profiled global private-house projects handled by the London design studio.[8][9] His documented marine subjects include the 108-metre motor yacht IJE and the 57.5-metre flybridge ketch Twizzle. Furthermore, his maritime and interior yacht photography has been featured by global superyacht authorities, including photo credits for BOAT International editorial design analyses.[10]
