Projectworks (legally Spiderworks Limited) is a New Zealand–founded software company that develops a cloud-based professional services automation (PSA) software platform for project-based organizations such as consulting, architecture and engineering firms.[1] In June 2025 the company raised US$12 million to expand product development and go-to-market operations,[2] having previously closed a US$5 million Series A round in 2024.[3] Projectworks was named ASX Hi-Tech Emerging Company of the Year at the 2025 New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards.[4]
History
Spiderworks Limited was incorporated in New Zealand in August 2016 and trades as Projectworks.[5] In late 2024, national media and broadcasters reported the company’s plan to build a U.S. presence following a US$5 million Series A led by Bridgewest Group and the appointment of U.S.-based executive Mark Orttung as chief executive officer.[3][6][1]
On 3 June 2025 the company announced a US$12 million follow-on to its Series A, led by Ten Coves Capital, to fund product and market expansion; the raise was covered by international technology media.[2] The company’s growth strategy has focused on North American expansion while retaining operations in New Zealand.[1]
Products
Projectworks markets a unified PSA platform combining time and expense tracking, resourcing and capacity management, invoicing and billing, and financial forecasting and reporting, with integrations to accounting and productivity systems.[7] Third-party software marketplaces and review aggregators describe integrations with products such as Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, Jira, Azure DevOps and Salesforce, and provide aggregated user reviews.[8][9][10][11]
Clients and use cases
Projectworks has been deployed by architecture and engineering firms in major infrastructure projects. Architecture & Design reported that Projectworks is helping the MBB consortium deliver some of Australia’s largest infrastructure programmes, using its time, resourcing and billing modules in live project environments.[12]
Recognition
In 2025 Projectworks won the ASX Hi-Tech Emerging Company of the Year award at the New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards,[4] an outcome reported in local business media.[13]
Independent directories such as PitchBook, Craft.co and BizProfile list Projectworks’ corporate and funding information.[14][15][16]
Market context
Coverage in New Zealand business media has discussed the company within the broader PSA and job-management market, including opportunities arising after the retirement of Xero’s WorkflowMax product in 2024.[17] Xero confirmed WorkflowMax’s retirement effective 26 June 2024 and subsequent brand transfer to BlueRock, which launched a successor product, WorkflowMax by BlueRock.[18][19]
Corporate
Public business directories list Spiderworks Limited (NZBN 9429042526582) as the legal entity behind Projectworks, registered in Wellington, New Zealand.[5]
