ProCook is a British retailer specialising in cookware, tableware, and kitchenware. Headquartered in Gloucester, the company is a direct-to-consumer brand operating through both physical retail locations and e-commerce platforms. It has been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 2021.

History

ProCook was established in 1996 by Daniel O'Neill as a direct-mail business, originally trading as "The Cookware Co."[1] The company opened its first physical retail location in 1999 at a designer outlet in Mansfield.

In 2008, the company underwent a rebranding to "ProCook" to reflect its focus on own-brand products. The business significantly expanded its physical footprint in 2019 through the acquisition of the kitchenware specialist Steamer Trading.[2]

In November 2021, the company completed an initial public offering (IPO) on the London Stock Exchange.[3] By 2023, the company moved its headquarters and distribution to a 135,000 sq ft purpose-built facility in Quedgeley, Gloucester.

Market Position and Operations

ProCook utilises a vertically integrated business model, designing and sourcing its own products to sell directly to consumers. According to market analysis by GlobalData, ProCook's focus on specialised kitchenware has allowed it to grow at a rate ahead of the general UK homewares market.[4]

As of 2026, the company operates over 70 retail stores across the United Kingdom. In independent consumer testing, ProCook has been recognised by Which? as a "Recommended Provider" for homewares, ranking within the top five brands for customer satisfaction in the sector.[5]

In April 2026, ProCook Group announced an acceleration of its retail investment programme following a period of record financial performance. The company reported a 19.2% increase in fourth-quarter revenue to £18.5 million, contributing to a record full-year revenue that exceeded market expectations with a 23% year-on-year increase.[6]

During the 2025–2026 financial year, the brand opened 13 new locations, bringing its total UK retail estate to 78 stores. This expansion is part of a stated medium-term strategic ambition to reach 100 retail outlets, £100 million in annual revenue, and a 10% operating profit margin. Under the leadership of CEO Lee Tappenden, the company has transitioned several locations to a new store format and reported significant growth in both new customer acquisition and repeat purchases across its physical and online channels. Despite global macroeconomic uncertainties, the group remains focused on increasing market share through disciplined investment in its store opening programme.

Corporate Affairs

In 2022, ProCook became a Certified B Corporation, meeting specific standards for social and environmental performance.[7] Financial analysts monitor the company's performance as a bellwether for UK consumer discretionary spending, noting its "strong value proposition" in an inflationary environment. As of January 2026, ProCook achieved a recertified overall B Impact Score of 93.1, surpassing their initial 2022 score of 80.

Sustainability and charity

In 2018, ProCook founder Daniel O'Neill established 'Life's a Beach', a non-profit organisation (later registered as a charitable incorporated organisation in 2019) dedicated to eradicating single-use plastics from British beaches.O'Neill, Daniel (25 September 2018). The charity focuses on three core pillars: education, promoting reusable products, and conducting organised beach cleans across the UK."Charity Details: Life's a Beach".
