PatientPoint is an American health technology and marketing company that designs and manages patient engagement platforms for healthcare settings. Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, the company’s digital point-of-care network includes screens and interactive devices in doctors’ offices and hospitals, through which it delivers educational health content and targeted advertising to patients and providers. Founded in 1987, PatientPoint remains a privately held company; in 2025, a definitive agreement was signed for its acquisition by the private equity firm Advent International.

History

The business that became PatientPoint was established in 1987 in Cincinnati by Mike Collette. For its first decades, the company (then operating under the name Healthy Advice Networks) provided in-office patient education programs, such as waiting-room television monitors and printed health brochures. In 2007, private equity firm L Catterton acquired a significant stake in the company, supporting its expansion in the point-of-care media market.

In February 2012, Healthy Advice Networks acquired a smaller health IT firm called PatientPoint, which offered electronic check-in and care coordination software for clinics. Following the merger, Healthy Advice Networks rebranded as PatientPoint later that year.

In May 2021, PatientPoint merged with its Chicago-based rival Outcome Health to form a new entity, PatientPoint Health Technologies. The merger combined two leading companies in the point-of-care media sector and was valued at roughly $600 million, including debt. Following the deal, the Outcome Health brand was retired, and the unified company operated under the PatientPoint name.

In August 2025, PatientPoint announced that Advent International, a global private equity investor, would acquire it. Advent agreed to purchase the company from the L Catterton–Littlejohn investor group; financial terms were not disclosed. At the time of the deal, PatientPoint’s management team – including chief executive officer Sean Slovenski – was slated to remain in place under the new ownership.

Products and services

PatientPoint develops and operates a range of point-of-care patient engagement products used in outpatient healthcare facilities. Its primary offerings center on digital content delivery systems that educate patients and facilitate healthcare advertising in clinical settings. These include waiting room television networks that display health programming and sponsored messages, interactive exam-room screens or tablets for patient education, and check-in kiosks or tablet applications that integrate with medical practice EHR systems. The company also provides printed educational brochures and posters in physicians’ offices, though its focus has shifted toward digital engagement tools in recent years.

Corporate affairs

PatientPoint is a privately held company. Its corporate headquarters are located in Cincinnati, Ohio, with additional offices inherited via mergers (including a presence in Chicago from the Outcome Health integration). The company has received backing from several private equity firms over its history. L Catterton was an early investor, first acquiring a majority stake in 2007 and supporting PatientPoint’s growth for over a decade. In 2019, Littlejohn & Co. invested in the business (as well as in Outcome Health), and together, L Catterton and Littlejohn remained the principal owners of PatientPoint Health Technologies after the 2021 merger. In 2022, founder Mike Collette transitioned from CEO to chairman of the board. Sean Slovenski – a veteran healthcare executive who had joined as president – was appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of PatientPoint.[1] The company’s leadership team also includes Linda Ruschau as Chief Client Officer and Pat O’Brien as Chief Financial Officer, among other executives.
