Pan-African Progressive Front (PPF)
Overview
The Pan-African Progressive Front (PPF) is an international organisation that advocates for African unity, drawing on ideas of Pan-African figures like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. According to the organisation, its conception of a united Africa extends beyond the continent to include people of African descent living in the diaspora. [1] [2]. PPF describes itself as a platform linking progressive movements, youth groups, labour groups and activists across Africa and the Diaspora,[3][4] with the stated goal of continuing the work of the Fifth Pan-African Congress of 1945 [5]
Establishment and Headquarters
PPF opened its headquarters in Accra, Ghana, on 30th June 2025. It was attended by activists, students and traditional leaders [5][6].
Activities and Advocacy
In August 2025, PPF participated in a rally in Accra organised by labour and trade-union groups. The rally called for reparations, debt cancellation and trade justice.[7]

Background and Theme
PPF held an international conference in Accra in 2025 to mark the 80th anniversary of the Fifth Pan-African Congress. The conference was held under the theme "From Historical Memory to Economic and Political Justice."[8] [9]
Attendance and Participants
Over 200 delegates from 57 countries across Africa, the Caribbean and the global diaspora attended the conference [8] [10] [11].The opening ceremony was presided over by President John Dramani Mahama, who holds the African Union designation as Champion on Reparations. [12] Participants included political leaders, students, trade union leaders and representatives of civil societies from the diaspora communities [10]
The Accra Declaration on Reparatory Justice
At the close of the conference, delegates adopted the Accra Declaration on Reparatory Justice [13] [14]. The declaration calls for a unified reparation fund and a legal mechanism to assess harms arising from slave trade and colonialism [13] [15]
2026 Online Conference on Reparatory Justice
On 30th March 2026, PPF held an online conference [16] [17] following the United Nations Resolution declaring the transatlantic slave trade as the gravest crime against humanity. The conference brought together representatives from 34 African countries and diaspora organisations to discuss reparatory justice and colonial accountability [16]
Geneva Forum on Reparatory Justice
On 28 April, PPF and its allied organisations held a forum at Geneva on reparatory justice and colonial accountability. At the conclusion of the forum, the organisation announced the release of reparations toolkits and an accountability manual, as well as the establishment of the PPF-D Justice Taskforce. [18] [19][20]
