MoveMobility is a Canadian manufacturer of wheelchair accessible vehicles and mobile medical units. The company is headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where it operates its primary manufacturing facility. It also maintains a regional office in Mississauga, Ontario, to support its work across Eastern Canada. MoveMobility focuses on removing barriers to healthcare and transportation by converting full-size van platforms into specialized vehicles for organizations[1] and communities.

History

MoveMobility began operations in 2007 and completed its first wheelchair accessible vehicle conversion that same year. During its first several years, the company focused on modifying vans for wheelchair transportation.[2]

In 2014, the MoveMobility brand was formally established, which marked a shift toward a more defined manufacturing and product strategy. As demand for accessible vehicles grew, the company expanded its production capacity and opened operations in Ontario.

By 2018, MoveMobility had completed its 200th vehicle build and opened an office in Mississauga to support growth in Eastern Canada.[2]

In 2019, the company delivered its first mobile medical van, expanding its product line into mobile healthcare delivery for urban and remote communities.[3]

During the early 2020s, the company invested in in-house fabrication equipment and introduced new vehicle platforms. It also established a dedicated service and support team for post-delivery assistance.[4][5]

In 2024, MoveMobility announced plans to move into a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Winnipeg to increase production capacity.[5]

In 2025, the company received CAD $1.1 million in federal support from the Government of Canada to expand the manufacturing of its medical vehicle line, including the development of Type II ambulances.[6]

Operations

The company operates as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) converter. All vehicle engineering and manufacturing take place at the Winnipeg facility, while the Mississauga location serves as a regional office for sales and support.[3]

MoveMobility manufactures vehicles for organizational and commercial use rather than for individual retail. Its primary clients include:

  • Indigenous and Northern health organizations.
  • Regional health authorities and public transit agencies.[3]
  • Community-based non-profits like the Niverville Heritage Centre.[7]
  • Outreach teams and harm reduction programs.

Vehicle lines

The company's production is divided into two primary categories: mobile medical units and accessible transportation.

Mobile medical units: These vehicles provide private spaces for healthcare providers to deliver care in community settings. They are designed as self-contained workspaces for medical exams, mental health counseling, and community outreach.

Accessible transportation MoveMobility builds various wheelchair accessible van configurations. These vehicles are designed to help organizations move people with mobility challenges safely and with dignity.
