In quantum mechanics, a many-body quantum state describes a system of multiple interacting particles, such as electrons in solid or atoms in a gas. Unlike a classical system where each particle has a definite position and momentum, a many-body quantum state is typically a highly entangled superposition of all possible combinations of single-particle states, meaning the behavior of each particle is fundamentally correlated with all the others. This immense complexity makes the exact wavefunction of sych a system exponentially difficult to compute as the number of particles grows, forcing physicists to rely on sophisticated approximations and computational techniques.
