Linus Granfors (born 30 July 2007) is a Swedish racing driver. He most recently competed in the 2024 GB4 Championship with Fortec Motorsport.[1]
Career
Karting
Granfors' spell in karting was a largely successful one. He mostly participated in Sweden, where he began in 2014 in the MKR Series Sweden.[2] He secured his first championship podiums in 2017, in both the Juniorfestivalen and the MKR Serien. These were achieved in the Micro Category.[3][4] In his final year in karting, Granfors secured his first national title, in the SMK Västerås, in the Junior 60 category.[5]
Formula Nordic
2022
Granfors debuted in Formula Nordic for the 2022 season, after winning the Aquila Formula 1000 series the year before. He scored a second-placed finish in his first start at Anderstorp, and followed that with three podiums at round two at the Falkenbergs Motorbana. Granfors ended the season with his first win in the series at Mantorp Park. Granfors ended the season in third place in the standings, with ten podiums and 247 points.[6]
2023
Granfors would return to the season for the 2023 season. His title chances were evident when he took three wins from three in round 1 at Mantorp Park. Granfors then went on to win every race in the championship in the next four rounds which were all held in Sweden. He also won the overall race at Karlskoga when the series joined forces with the F4 Danish Championship.[7] He then skipped the penultimate round at Rudskogen after securing the title, and finished the season at the final round at the Jyllands-Ringen.[8] Despite missing one round, Granfors comfortably took the championship title, beating his closest competitor Oscar Pedersen by 144 points. He secured 13 wins overall from the 15 races that he contested.[9]
GB4 Championship
After his successes in Formula Nordic, Fortec Motorsport signed Granfors for the 2024 GB4 Championship season.[10] He had a strong debut, winning race three in round 1 at Oulton Park.[11] Granfors then proceeded to win two races from two at Silverstone, and then scored two more wins at Donington Park, and at the second Silverstone round.[12][13][14][15] He eventually won the championship, with six wins across the 20 races.[16]
Personal life
Granfors is the younger brother of fellow racing driver Joel Granfors. Their father Joakim also drives, and he also manages the team that has run the brothers in the past, Granforce Racing.[17]
