Draft:Leo RegTech

Leo RegTech Limited' is a UK, France and US based regulatory technology (RegTech) company that develops software for compliance management in the financial services industry. Its products are marketed under the "Leo" brand and are aimed at regulated firms and compliance professionals, including asset managers, hedge funds, brokers, compliance consultancies, regulatory hosting platforms and lawyers. The company's software addresses regulatory frameworks including the FCA Handbook (UK), AMF (France) and SEC (US) regulations, and EU directives such as AIFMD, MiFID, AMLD, and GDPR.[1]

History

Leo RegTech's software originated within the Laven Group, a compliance consultancy and UK regulatory hosting business serving the investment management industry, which was founded by Jerome Lussan in 2005. According to the company, their proprietary software was first developed internally to support consultants' workflows after which the tools were extended to external clients and subsequently rebuilt as a standalone product, giving rise to the Leo brand as a separate company.[1] In December 2022, the wider Laven Group divested its consulting arm. The company stated that the sale would allow management to focus on Leo RegTech and on Laven Hosting, its UK regulatory hosting platform.[2][3]

Products and services

Leo RegTech is an integrated, SaaS compliance platform. According to company materials, the platform consolidates compliance policies, registers, attestations and approval workflows that firms might otherwise manage through documents and spreadsheets. Described functions include centralised storage of compliance manuals and policies, employee attestations, approval requests for gifts and personal account trades, and a staff portal for compliance tasks. The company also describes a compliance-monitoring module in which firms complete a configurable risk assessment that assigns each item a risk rating and a monitoring frequency, with all activity recorded in an audit trail.[1]

Leadership

The company was founded by Jerome Lussan (also referred to as Jerome de Lavenère Lussan), a former COO of a hedge fund and financial lawyer at Jones Day, who now serves as chief executive at Leo RegTech. He is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and of the CFA Society of the UK, and holds an LLB from the University of Edinburgh. In 2010, Financial News included him in its FN100 Rising Stars list; he was subsequently included in the publication's 40 Under 40 Rising Stars in Hedge Funds in 2011 and 2012. In 2012, he published the Financial Times Guide to Investing in Funds.[4][5][6][7]

Recognition

In July 2026, Capital Finance International (CFI.co) named Leo RegTech its Compliance Automation Trailblazer Europe 2026.[8]

The company has also appeared on the RegTech100, an annual ranking of regulatory technology companies compiled by RegTech Analyst (part of FinTech Global). The company announced its inclusion in the 2025 and 2026 edition of the list. The RegTech100 selection is described by its publisher as drawn from a longlist of approximately 1,500 companies, assessed by a panel of analysts and industry experts.[9]
