Jonathan Lindsay Stefan Brough (1 March 1973 – 31 October 2022) was a New Zealand special effects artist.[1][2]

History

Brough was born on 1 March 1973 to parents Denise Le Cren and Murray Brough.[2]

  • "His experience includes crafting props for films that include King Kong, Avatar, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, District 9 and The Hobbit. A model-maker for The Dambusters, he also constructed and painted sets for the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre in Blenheim."[3]

Personal life

Brough married Wellington-based print maker Michele Bryant, meeting in 1998 when working at Wētā Workshop on the film adaptation of The Lord of the Rings.[4] Together they had two children, Jack and Evelyn.[3] The former working on the music project Nine Lives Narrow before passing away in 2026 from glioblastoma caused by constitutional mismatch repair deficiency.[5]
