Comment: As long as this is written as a promotional biography it will be very hard for editors to judge whether underneath all the fluff there is a viable biography. I mean, you can't write chatty unencyclopedic stuff like "exploring different styles in the process" and source it to her own biography. This is an encyclopedia. Write it up factually and neutrally, with reference to reliable secondary sources. There's so much trash in the reference list, with the subject's own website all over the place, that there is no way to actually judge this. Drmies (talk) 14:13, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
Jasmine Power is a Welsh singer, songwriter, composer, and pianist.[1] [2] Her music is known for incorporating elements of jazz, pop, and cinematic sounds, often drawing on Celtic influences from her Welsh upbringing[3]
Power has collaborated with several artists and songwriters all around the world, with most collaborations taking place in Wales, London, Nashville, New York and LA.[4][5]
Early life and background
Power was born in the Lake District to a Welsh father and an English mother and raised in the small village Goodwick in Pembrokeshire, Wales.[6] [7] [8]
Her interest in music started at a very young age, with her father introducing her to Celtic folk music and artists such as The Beatles, Eva Cassidy, and The Eagles, and her mother exposing her to genres including jazz, classical, reggae, and ska. During her childhood, she participated in a local musical theatre youth group and sang in a cathedral choir.[9]
Education
Power studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. She later attended Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, where she specialized in jazz voice.[10] [11]
Career
Early work
While studying in London, Power released her debut EP, Stories & Rhymes, featuring British award-winning jazz musician Moses Boyd and keyboardist Joe-Armon Jones.[12]
The release of her EP received airplay on various BBC radio channels. [13] [14]
In 2016, she released Stories & Rhymes as an album across streaming platforms.[15] The album was frequently covered by BBC radio presenters including Gilles Peterson, who described her as "one to watch",[16] and Jamie Cullum, [17] who commented on her songwriting and vocal performance. Robert Elms also featured the title track Stories & Rhymes on his programme.[18] [19]
Songwriting and work in the United States
Power later relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, to further develop her songwriting career.[20]There she collaborated with artists Melissa Manchester, Dave Palmer, Laura Osnes, Eric Martin (Technotronic) and Amanda Palmer, among others.[21]She also regularly wrote music with songwriters Keith and Adrienne Follesé.[22]
In addition to her own songs, she has written music for other artists, exploring different styles in the process.[23]
Live performances
Power has performed her songs at many events and venues including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Cadogan Hall as part of the London Jazz Festival, The Jazz Café, The Pheasantry, Love Supreme Festival, and Fusion Festival.[24]
The Verge of the Unknown
In 2023, Power released the single "The Verge of the Unknown" co-written with Keith and Adrienne Follesé.[25] [26] The track received airplay on BBC Radio Wales and was included on the station’s A-list for eight consecutive weeks.[27] [28] [29] Her work has been described as combining technical precision with emotional expression.[30]
Leap
In 2026, she released her single "Leap", co-written with Stephen Leiweke.[31][32] The track was reviewed by online magazines Rotate Magazine, Loud Women, Atwood Magazine, Lock Magazine, Noisescape Magazine, and FAME Magazine. [33][34] [35] [36] [37]
