HomeBreeze was an American home services technology company founded in 2020. The company operated a marketplace that scoped residential projects through virtual site visits and enabled contractors to submit quotes remotely. It participated in Y Combinator’s Winter 2021 batch and was acquired in 2024 by Apex Service Partners.
History
HomeBreeze was founded in 2020 and headquartered in Newport Beach, California. It was led by Founder & CEO, Vineet Mehta and Co-founder & CTO, Jonathan McCoy.[1]
In 2021, the company participated in Y Combinator’s Winter batch.[1] During coverage of Y Combinator Demo Day, TechCrunch described HomeBreeze as a home repair marketplace that sought to eliminate in-person quoting by generating fixed prices through remote project scoping.[2]
Business model
HomeBreeze operated as a technology-enabled marketplace connecting homeowners with contractors. According to Y Combinator’s company profile, the platform collected homeowner-provided photos, video, and project information to scope jobs remotely. Licensed contractors would then use these scopes and data to submit quotes.[1]
The company initially focused on energy-efficient home upgrades, including heat pump installations.[1]
Funding
HomeBreeze raised approximately $3.5 million in total funding.[3]
Acquisition
On November 26, 2024, HomeBreeze was acquired by Apex Service Partners.[4] [5]
Apex Service Partners is backed by Alpine Investors. In 2023, The Wall Street Journal described Alpine’s home services platform as one of the largest private-equity-backed residential services businesses in the United States in connection with a $3.4 billion secondary transaction.[6]
