Harper Grey LLP
Harper Grey is a multi-service Canadian law firm based in Vancouver, BC. Notable practice areas include aviation law,[1] business law,[2] commercial litigation,[3] environmental law,[4] health law,[5] insurance law,[6] professional regulation,[7] securities law,[8] and white-collar crime.[9]
History
Harper Grey LLP was founded in 1907 and was originally called Martin, Craig & Bourne[10] after its founding fathers Joseph Martin, K.C., Charles Craig, and Harry Bourne. Joseph Martin went on to become premier of British Columbia in the year 1900.[11]
From 1923 the firm was known as Craig, Parkes & Tysoe[12]. In 1929 two well-known law firms in Vancouver merged to form Craig, Ladner, Carmichael, Tysoe & Downs.[13]
The firm name was changed to Harper Grey LLP in 2004 after numerous name changes and mergers.[14]

- Joseph "Fighting Joe" A. Martin, KC - previous Attorney General and Premier of British Columbia[11]
- John G. Hay - appointed City Solicitor of Vancouver in 1910[15]
- David Alexander McDonald - named Chief Justice of British Columbia in 1942[16]
- Leon J. Ladner - helped establish a central bank in Canada[17]
- Ian Gordon Pyper - Managed numerous political campaigns for E. Davie Fulton, John Fraser, and Douglas Jung[18]
- James Moses Coady - held a Knighthood of Saint Gregory from Pope Pius XI[19]
- Christopher E. Hinkson - appointed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of BC in 2013[20]
- J. Bruce Butler - was a member of the Special Committee on International Child Protection from 2009 to 2017 and appointed Hague Contact Judge for British Columbia in 2009[21]
