GiftDrive is an online platform and software service designed to help nonprofit organizations manage in-kind donation drives and wish lists. The platform enables charities to create custom wish lists of needed items, allows donors to browse and purchase items directly, and assists organizations with tracking donations, gathering donor information, and automating tax receipts.[1] GiftDrive was developed by students at the University of Vermont and launched in early September 2025.[2]
History
GiftDrive originated as a classroom project at the University of Vermont, where students Logan Vaughan, Miro Gohacki, and Corinne Atwell identified challenges local nonprofits faced in managing donation drives.[3] After interviewing multiple organizations and observing reliance on paper lists, spreadsheets, and email for donation coordination, they began developing a digital solution in 2024. The platform was officially launched in September 2025.[2]
Following its public launch, GiftDrive received local media attention in Vermont for its role in supporting nonprofit operations through technology. Coverage highlighted the platform as a student-founded initiative aimed at strengthening community giving efforts.[4]
Adoption
Since its launch, GiftDrive has been adopted by various nonprofit organizations across the country, enabling drives that have collected thousands of dollars' worth of essential items.[2] Nonprofits such as COTS, Good Samaritan Haven, the Colchester Food Shelf, and the Williston Community Food Shelf have used the service to support initiatives ranging from food distribution to winter survival gear drives.[2][5]
Organization
GiftDrive is headquartered in Burlington, Vermont, United States, and operates as a privately held software company focused on nonprofit services.[6] The platform is publicly accessible through its official website at https://www.giftdrive.org/.
Intellectual Property
In December 2025, GiftDrive, LLC filed a trademark application in the United States for the GiftDrive name in categories covering online directory and charitable donation coordination services.[7]
