Garvey|Simon (also styled Garvey/Simon or Garvey Simon Art Access) is a New York–based art gallery and private art advisory founded in 2010 by Elizabeth K. Garvey and Catherine G. Simon.[1][2] The gallery presents exhibitions focused on drawings, works on paper, and material-driven projects.

History

Garvey|Simon began as a hybrid private-dealer and advisory practice, presenting exhibitions and pop-up projects in New York and the U.S. Midwest before maintaining an ongoing program in Manhattan.[2] In June 2010, the gallery opened a temporary space in the Carmel Arts & Design District in Indiana, which was covered by Nuvo: Indianapolis Weekly.[3] In 2022, Garvey|Simon opened a second location in San Anselmo, California, where it operated for two years and received coverage in Bay Area press.[4] The San Anselmo branch closed in 2024.

Notable exhibitions

  • Tamiko Kawata: Permutations — a solo exhibition at Garvey|Simon noted in art coverage.[5]
  • J. Ivcevich: Sampling (2011) — an exhibition documented by the gallery and reviewed in independent outlets.[6]
  • Timothy Hursley: Tainted Lens (2017) — a solo exhibition at Garvey|Simon that received attention in arts reporting.[7]

Several exhibitions presented by Garvey|Simon have been reviewed in national and specialist art outlets including Hyperallergic and The Architect’s Newspaper.[8][9][1]
