Game Guardian (GG) is an cheat/hack tool for Android games.[1]. It is a propriety tool that allows memory scanning and edit in Android operating system. This feature is used by game cheaters to change in-game currently like coins, gems, health and games working mechanism[2]

Overview

Game Guardian operates by attaching to a running process then scanning the scanning memory for any values.[3] Once the values are identified in memory, it can modify them. Unlike mods game guardian works on live memory, meaning changes are temporary. There is a tool in desktop called Cheat Engine, game guardian is similar in many ways but is targeting to the Android market. Android has security restrictions that stop one app from attaching and reading/manipulating other apps memory.[4] Due to this reason it requires root access/superuser access to run, or it requires a virtualized execution environment that allow this access without acquiring root access permission for the entire operating system.[5]

Development and History

Game Guardian is a closed-source project developed by a small team. It is maintained Currently by Enyby. This tool started getting attraction in the early 2010s when people were searching for Cheat Engine Alternatives for the mobile gaming markets[6]. It started appearing on the public at around 2012 with version 6.x which had the core features. From 2012 to current 2026 it has become popular in the Android cheating and mods community. The latest reported version is 101.1, released on March 22, 2021[7].

Platform Ecosystem

Game guardian has reached more than 215 million downloads from its official source and keeps getting 30,000 downloads per day from this source[8]. It has its own forum-based web platform that hosts its distribution and documentation. Game Guardian ecosystem is supported by an active community, which includes cheat developers who share the script [9], online game hacking courses [10], YouTube tutorials and the game game modding community.
