"Freedom Form Flowing" is a song by American rapper Gift of Gab featuring R.A. the Rugged Man and A-F-R-O. It was released April 28, 2017 by Giftstribution Unlimited, and is the first single from Gab's EP titled "Rejoice! Rappers Are Rapping Again!"
Background and recording
Gab reached out to R.A. to feature both him and A-F-R-O on Freedom Form Flowing. A-F-R-O being a big fan of Blackalicious was more than ecstatic to collaborate with one of his favorite emcees.
The music video was released September 7, 2017, and has reached over 15,000,000 views.
Critical reception
Both the single and music video received positive reviews.
The Source magazine said, "The trio make it a lighthearted vocal-sparring session, and the result is a far shot from anything considered “mumble rap.” [1]
Ambrosia for Heads said, "Over a simple but hard drum and piano beat, the three MCs display some of the finest flows you’ll hear in 2017 (or any recent time for that matter). Gab leads things off with a furiously fast Rap that shows while Midwest MCs often get credit for choppin’, this Bay Area native has been true to that game for nearly 25 years. A-F-R-O follows with his mechanical mandible chronicling his style of Rap, and why he’s one of the few new artists getting major props for his nimble delivery. R.A. plays cleanup, showcasing two vastly different patterns. Starting slow, suddenly, the Long Island MC hits the turbo button and goes all out, before drifting back, then speeding up again. Fast or slow, boxing, sex, film, and Hip-Hop references decorate his stylish verse. All three emcees on this track kill it, Gift Of Gab is another one of those underappreciated rappers who is better than 99% of the rappers out today and young talent A-F-R-O easily holds his own between veterans Gift Of Gab and R.A.
