Frederick Gilbert Addy (Member Of Parliament-Suaman Constituency)

Frederick Gilbert Addy (born 15 March 1986), popularly known as Fredys, is a Ghanaian politician and businessman. He is a Member of Parliament for the Suaman Constituency[1][2] in the Western North Region, serving in the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He was appointed as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Finance and Investment[3] by Nana Akufo-Addo.[4]

Early life and Education

Frederick Gilbert Addy was born on 15 March 1986 and hails from Suaman Dadieso in the Western North Region of Ghana.

He obtained a Diploma in Basic Education from Jackson College of Education in 2015. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Ghana Baptist University and a Master of Science degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Career

Before entering politics, Addy was actively involved in business. He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fredys Group of Companies. He has also served in several leadership roles, including:

Political

Addy entered Parliament on 7 January 2025 as the Member of Parliament for the Suaman Constituency, representing the New Patriotic Party in the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.[5][6]

Electoral History

2020 general election

In the 2020 parliamentary election, Addy contested on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party and obtained 8,486 votes (48.81%). He lost to Joseph Betino of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who secured 8,900 votes (51.19%).[7]

2024 general election

He contested again in the 2024 general election and won the Suaman parliamentary seat with 9,027 votes. He defeated Joseph Betino, who polled 8,214 votes (47.64%).[8]
