Draft:Fort Dushane

Fort Dushane was a Union Fort built in the summer of 1864 located south of Petersburg, Virginia.[1]The ruins of Fort Dushane are still visible from satellite and LIDAR scans of the area. The fort was built of the furthest point of the left flank of the Union armies around Petersburg. Fort Dushane was named after Colonel Nathan Thomas Dushane who was killed, on August, 21st 1864, in the Second Battle of Weldon Railroad.[2] The ruins of the for is currently inaccessible to the general public and its fate remains uncertain as it is surrounded by new developments and the lot it sits on is for sale.[3]
