Flowodo is a web-based mind mapping and visual thinking application with artificial intelligence to generate mind maps from text prompts. It is a freemium software as a service (SaaS) and is fully web-based.[1]
Overview
With Flowodo users can create mind maps manually by drag-and-drop or automatically by typing a text prompt in the application that is processed by Google's Gemini AI model. The application generates hierarchical structured mind maps from short text descriptions.[2]
The software saves maps to the cloud, has a shareable link feature with view and edit permissions and export in PNG and PDF format. Maps can be saved and imported as JSON.
Flowodo uses Google Firebase for user authentication and data storage. In the free tier users can enter their own Gemini API key for the AI features and in the paid tier AI generation is included without having to enter a separate API key.
Features
Users type in a topic or question and the application uses Gemini AI to build the mind map automatically. They can drag and drop to add, move and organize nodes manually. Images can be uploaded to the nodes and custom colors assigned to them. Full undo and redo edit history is supported. Maps can be exported as PNG images or PDF documents with watermarks in the free tier. One-click generation of shareable links with customizable permissions for view-only or collaborative editing. Maps are saved to the cloud and automatically saved on the paid plan.[2]
Business model
Flowodo follows a freemium pricing model. The free plan does not require account registration and users can create unlimited local mind maps with the AI features using their own Gemini API key. Two paid subscription tiers are monthly and annual and remove the export watermarks, have a cloud storage and automatic saving and 500 AI-generated maps per month without having to enter a personal API key.[3]
Development and release
Flowodo was publicly launched in early 2026. A press release announcing the launch was sent to AB Newswire in January 2026 describing Flowodo as targeting students, founders and digital nomads as main users.[1]
The application is a web-based tool and does not require installation of any software. It is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
Reception
In a March 2026 review Automateed called Flowodo effective for quick AI-generated mind maps, but noted limitations of its collaboration features compared to more established tools.[2]
