Comment: You have many sources reporting on surgeries that he has conducted, but I don't see significant coverage of him as a subject. I am also sceptical that this is an independent source. MCE89 (talk) 12:29, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

He is the Chairman Department of Liver transplantation, Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery, Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center (PKLI&RC) and Dean of the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center (PKLI&RC).[1][2][3]
Early life and education
Dr. Dar was born in Faisalabad and received his early education in the small town of Kharian, located in the Gujrat district of Pakistan. He completed his MBBS from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, in 1997. In 2003, he obtained his FCPS (Surgery) from the College of Physicians & Surgeons in Pakistan. He then earned his FRCS (Surgery) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in July 2006.[1][4]
He further specialised in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, through a fellowship at The Royal London Hospitals, Bart's NHS Trust, London, in 2008. In 2009, he completed a fellowship in liver transplantation and Hepatopancreatobiliary surgery at Kings College Hospital, UK. Additionally, he became a Fellow of the European Board of Surgery in Transplant Surgery in Paris, France.[1][4]

He performed liver transplant surgery on a five-month-old on April 15, 2014, and Pakistan’s first auxiliary liver transplant on a six-year-old girl for Crigler Najjar Syndrome on June 18, 2014.[2]

Split-liver and pancreatic transplant
In 2024, a team of surgeons led by Dr. Dar successfully performed Pakistan’s first split liver transplant and the country's first pancreatic transplant at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre (PKLI&RC) in Lahore. The procedures were made possible by a liver donated by a young man who had been declared brain dead at a hospital in Rawalpindi. His liver was divided into two parts and transplanted into an adult and a child suffering from liver failure. The donor’s pancreas was also transplanted into a patient with Type 1 diabetes, marking the first pancreatic transplant in the history of Pakistan.[9][10][11][12]
The donor, Uzair Bin Yasin, had previously expressed his wish to donate all viable organs, including his liver, pancreas, kidneys, and corneas. His donated organs saved the lives of seven people across Rawalpindi and Lahore. Both of his corneas were donated to Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital in Rawalpindi, where they were transplanted into two patients suffering from blindness. Both of his kidneys were also successfully transplanted into two separate patients suffering from renal failure at a private hospital in Rawalpindi.[9][10][11][12]
Awards and achievements
Faisal Dar’s contributions to the development of liver transplant services in Pakistan were recognized by the Government of Pakistan, and he was awarded Sitara-i-mtiaz by the honorable President of Pakistan in 2016.[13][14]
He was awarded the “BMJ South Asia Award 2017” as the best surgical team of the year for developing liver transplant services in Pakistan.[15]
