ENIWORLD (Korean: 이앤아이월드) is a South Korean software company that develops electronic book (eBook) production tools and document digitization services. It was one of the first-generation Korean eBook developers, and in 2012 it released one of the country's first HTML5-based eBook authoring solutions.[1] The company is based in Jongno District, Seoul.[2]

History

The company traces its origin to an editorial-design and advertising firm established in 1993, and was reorganized under the name ENIWORLD in 2005.[3] ENIWORLD developed the Flash-based eBook authoring solution "FBook" in the late 2000s.[4][5] In 2009 its "eBook Studio AcadeMy" was designated administrative-use software by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security,[6] and in 2010 it released an eBook authoring tool aimed at teachers.[7] In 2011 it supplied FBook to South Korea's army, navy and air force.[4]

In 2012 the company released the HTML5-based authoring tool "NexBook 2.0", which K-Bench reported as the first next-generation eBook solution developed domestically.[1] It later released "NexBook CC", supporting SVG vector rendering and EPUB publishing, in 2018,[8] and the subscription-based "NexBook air" in 2021.[9]

Products and services

NexBook is ENIWORLD's HTML5-based eBook authoring solution, which can be viewed in a web browser without a dedicated reader and uses SVG vector rendering.[1][8] The 2021 "NexBook air" release introduced a subscription model.[9]

According to the company, its other services include NexBook MD, which converts documents such as PDF and office files into Markdown; NexBook AI, an eBook interface that lets readers query an artificial-intelligence assistant while reading; and digital archiving, which converts printed materials into searchable digital collections.[2] It also produces custom eBooks from clients' printed materials and PDF files.[2]

Patents

ENIWORLD holds patents registered with the Korean Intellectual Property Office related to its eBook production technology.[8]
