Easygenerator is a cloud-based e-learning authoring platform headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The company develops software that allows subject-matter experts (SMEs) to create digital training courses without instructional design expertise.[1]

History

Easygenerator originated within ISM eCompany, a Rotterdam-based digital agency founded by Jan Kees de Jager in 1992.[2] The original product was an instructional design tool built for professional course designers.

In 2013, the company discontinued the existing product and developed a new cloud-based platform using a Software as a service (SaaS) model. The rebuilt platform was launched at the DevLearn conference in Las Vegas in October 2013.[1]

In September 2021, Valantic, a German digital consultancy, acquired ISM eCompany. Following the acquisition, Easygenerator continued to operate as a separate entity.[3][2]

Jan Kees de Jager, who served as Dutch Minister of Finance from 2010 to 2012, became chief executive officer (CEO) of Easygenerator in January 2022.[4][2] Joop Wijn, who served as Dutch State Secretary and Minister of Economic Affairs from 2002 to 2007, succeeded him as CEO in 2024.[citation needed]

Product

Easygenerator provides an authoring tool that allows users to create e-learning content and publish it to learning management systems (LMSs) using Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) standards and xAPI standards. In 2023, the company added artificial intelligence (AI) assisted course creation features to the platform.[5]

Easygenerator integrates with learning management systems including Cornerstone OnDemand and MHR. In March 2025, Easygenerator joined the Cornerstone OnDemand partner ecosystem.[6] In September 2023, MHR announced a partnership with Easygenerator to provide authoring tools within its platform.[7]

Employee-generated Learning

Easygenerator uses the term "Employee-generated Learning" to describe its approach, in which subject-matter experts create training content in a decentralized model, rather than centralized learning development (L&D) teams. Kasper Spiro and Videhi Bhamidi published a book on the concept through Kogan Page in 2024.[8]

Recognition

Easygenerator appeared in the NLgroeit and Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship (part of Erasmus University Rotterdam) list of 250 fastest-growing companies in the Netherlands in 2021.[9] The company ranked 18th on the MT/Sprout SaaS100 list of Dutch SaaS companies in 2022.[10]
