Comment: Sources are mostly local newspapers: the rest are less to do with the festival itself, and largely about a single event. ArthurTheGardener (talk) 20:51, 9 May 2026 (UTC)

CozFest is an annual community and music festival held in Sible Hedingham, Essex, England.[1] It began in 2015 as an event in memory of local musician Corran "Coz" Powell, who died in a road collision in 2014, and has since developed into a wider memorial festival where people are invited to celebrate the lives of their loved ones.[2]
History
Corran "Coz" Powell was a 21-year-old musician from the Braintree area who died in a car crash in December 2014.[3][4][5] His friends and family organised the first CozFest in 2015 as a way to honour his memory and support local music and charitable causes.[1]
Local and regional media have covered the festival over multiple years, noting its growth and role in the community.[6][7]
Festival
CozFest is usually held in the summer on land near Halstead Road, Sible Hedingham.[8] The festival programme typically includes live music from local and regional bands, food and drink stalls, family activities and wellbeing-focused sessions.[9]
In addition to music, the event includes memorial elements and encourages attendees to celebrate the lives of friends and relatives who have died.[2]
Legacy
Following Powell's death, the Welsh metal band Bullet for My Valentine, one of his favourite groups, paid tribute by sharing a video of him on their official page, an act reported in the local press.[3] The story of CozFest and Powell's legacy has been reported in local and national media, including later coverage of the band taking a container holding some of his ashes on tour in tribute to him.[10][11][12][13] The festival has been described as part of ongoing efforts by his family and friends to keep his memory alive while supporting the local community.[1][6]
Patrons
The Welsh metal band Bullet for My Valentine act as patrons of CozFest. Their patronage, and the story of them taking a container holding some of Powell's ashes on tour, has been reported in both local and music press.[14][15][16][11][12][13] Lead guitarist Michael "Padge" Paget has also contributed recorded video messages which are played on screens beside the stage at the festival.[14]
