Benard Awuko
Benard Awuko is a Ugandan ICT professional, researcher, tutor, entrepreneur, and aspiring leader with a background in telecommunications and information technology. Benard was born on 21 March 1990 at St. Francis Hospital Nsambya - Kampala. He started his nursery and primary education at Nsambya Police Barracks Nursery and Primary School - Kampala and sat her primary leaving examinations (PLE) in 2002 at Loro Primary School - Oyam District. He thereafter enrolled at Almond College – Lira for her O-level education, where he completed his Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) in 2007 and emerged the best student. He then joined Lango College – Lira for her A-level education, where he completed his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in 2009. He attended Kampala International University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications in 2010. Benard has over a decade of experience spanning academia, telecommunications, web engineering, ICTconsultancy and public service. He began his career as an Enrollment Officer during the first national ID project with the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Uganda in 2014 before joining Uganda Telecom Limited, where he progressed from Graduate Trainee to OCB Switch Engineer, gaining extensive expertise in telecommunications networks, switching systems, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Alongside his telecommunications career, he served as a Teaching Assistant at Kampala International University for more than seven years, mentoring and teaching undergraduate students. Since 2021, he has worked as a Full-Stack Web Engineer at Bensites Uganda Limited. Since 2023, he has also served as a Consultant at Uganda Martyrs University in the Faculty of Engineering & Applied Sciences, contributing to teaching, curriculum delivery, assessment, and academic development. His career reflects a unique blend of technical expertise, software development, telecommunications engineering, higher education, and leadership in ICT-driven innovation.
