Barry Miller Kaye is an American Musician, Songwriter/Recording Artist, Grammy-Nominated Record Producer/ Arranger, Vocalist/ Keyboardist, Music/ Vocal Instructor, Senior Media Consultant and Radio Broadcast Executive, with a career spanning multiple decades.

Early Life and Education:

Barry Miller Kaye was born in Brooklyn, New York, in Septemeber 28, 1953. At the age of four his family relocated to Columbus, Ohio. He graduated with honors from Eastmoor High School in 1971, where he served as Senior Class President and Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper. Other notable graduates of.[1] who were friends of Kaye include two-time Heisman trophy winner [2] and five-time Grammy nominated recording artist [3] His undergraduate studies were in Journalism at Ohio University from 1971 to 1973. Kaye then relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his music career and transferred to California State University Northridge, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 3.79 GPA in 1983. Kaye later pursued graduate studies in Education at CSUN from 1991 to 1993.

Music Career: Kaye's professional music career began in the 1960’s in Columbus, Ohio, where he played in the band the Contemporaries, a local cover band and opening act for the [4] , [5], and others. In 1973 he relocated to Los Angeles with his band Starstream and joined the Local #47 Musicians Union, and served as the keyboard player on several jingles and film scores. In 1977, Kaye was asked to play keyboards with MCA Recording Artists, Gypsy, at the renowned music festival [6] in St. Louis, Mo., opening for [7] and [8]. Kaye also appeared in the documentary [9].

From 1978 to 1982, Kaye signed a recording contract with MCA Records under the band’s new name [10]. Notable venues where the band performed include [11], [12], [13] and [14], opening for bands such as [15], [16], [17] and many others.

In the 1980s, he worked as a Record Producer and Arranger, collaborating with Christian artists such as [18] and [19] under [20] and [21] . His 1985 production of the song [22] , a duet performed by [23] and [24], earned a Grammy Nomination for Best Gospel Duet.

In the early ‘90’s, Kaye was the keyboard player for the band, Tyler Kaye DeVere, pictured on the front page of the [25] entertainment section. The band was produced by [26], best known for producing the band, [27]. TKD had two singles with regional success, Sierra Highway and Everywhere She Goes. They also served as an opening act for REO Speedwagon. Since 2013, Kaye has been the keyboardist, vocalist, and vocal arranger for the [28] Worship Ministry in Tallahassee, FL.

Teaching Music Career: Kaye worked with former CBS [29] A&R Director [30] as Songwriting Instructors at the [31] in Hollywood, CA., from 1989 through 1993, followed by a ten year stint at [32] as the founding Songwriting Instructors from 1993 through 2003. He is currently the Music and Vocal Director for the [33] and Music Director for the Theatre Department at [34], in Tallahassee, Florida where he has been teaching since 2018.

Music Business Career: In 1975, Kaye and his bandmate Rick Geragi partnered with Kaye’s father, Edward Kaye, along with Fred Kaufman and his company, Captain Video, and launched Big Ed Productions. Big Ed’s was a large, isolated, two story soundstage in Northridge, Ca., with a 32 x 20 ft multi-tier stage, two dressing rooms, and a second story VIP viewing room for record industry executives. Big Ed’s was consistently on the cover of [35] and hosted several talent show contests, judged by popular LA Recording Artists and Radio Executives. They were among the first to offer music video production during the early emergence of MTV, where they hosted [36] and other forward-thinking artists. Numerous notable recording artists utilized the Big Ed’s/ Captain Video soundstage, including: [37] , [38], [39], [40], [41], [42], [43] , [44], and many others. These artists enjoyed the privacy, acoustics, and party atmosphere at Big Ed’s, away from the paparazzi. Big Ed’s was also home to [45] former white and silver piano. From 1992 through 2003, Kaye also served as a Managing Partner for Antelope Valley Entertainment in Palmdale, CA.

Broadcasting and Media: Kaye served on the Board of Directors for the [46] from 2010 to 2022. He also held multiple executive roles in Radio Broadcasting, including: ● Vice President/General Manager of seven radio stations for Clear Channel Communications, later known as iHeartRadio, in Augusta, GA (2003–2007) ● Vice President/General Manager for Cumulus Media in Tallahassee, FL (2007–2010) ● Vice President/General Manager for WTSM 97.9 ESPN Radio for Horizon Broadcasting Co. (2010–2013) ● Vice President/General Manager for WVFT Real Talk 93.3 FM, Magic Broadcasting II LLC (2013–2017) ● Senior Media Consultant and Sales Development Specialist for [47] (2017–Present)

Personal Life:

Barry Kaye has been married to Kelly Kaye since June 30,1986. They have three children and five grandchildren as of this writing.
