BYON COMBAT is a professional combat sports promotion company based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Founded in 2023 by Yoshua Marcellos (widely known as Celloszxz), the company has established itself as a leading combat sports promoter in Asia through a "sportainment" approach—integrating high-level athletic competition with modern digital entertainment production.
The promotion is notable for pioneering a new combat discipline known as Kickstriking and for being the first Indonesian combat sports promoter to conduct large-scale international expansion, specifically into Malaysia.[1]
Achievements and Records
Byon Combat has set several significant records within the combat sports industry, particularly through digital broadcasting and pay-per-view (PPV) metrics.
Digital Broadcasting
The promotion achieved a milestone in live streaming on YouTube during the Byon Combat Showbiz Vol. 2 event, which reached a peak of 1.9 million concurrent viewers. Additionally, the Video-on-Demand (VOD) content from Byon Combat Showbiz Vol. 5 recorded a milestone as one of the most-watched combat sports videos on its official channel, accumulating over 27 million views.
Pay-Per-View (PPV)
Byon Combat pioneered the large-scale implementation of pay-per-view (PPV) in Indonesia through a partnership with the Vidio platform.
- Asian Record: Its inaugural PPV event recorded 300,018 purchases, which was recognized at the time as the highest PPV sales figure for a combat sports event in Asia.
- National Record and MURI: The current record was achieved during Byon Combat Showbiz Vol. 5 on June 28, 2025, which recorded 536,573 PPV purchases. For this achievement, Byon Combat was awarded a certificate from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) for the category of "Combat Sports Event with the Highest PPV Transactions."
History and Expansion
Byon Combat was founded with the vision of professionalizing the combat sports industry in Indonesia by leveraging digital media. The organization operates two primary event series:
- BYON Combat Showbiz: The flagship series featuring professional high-level matches with large-scale arena production.
- BYON Madness: A series serving as a talent development platform and high-intensity competition for up-and-coming fighters.
In 2025, Byon Combat officially came under the sanctioning of the Uni Combat Council (UCC) for technical oversight and official record-keeping. On April 25, 2026, the promotion held its first international event, Byon Combat Showbiz Vol. 7, at the World Trade Centre (WTC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.[2]
Kickstriking Discipline
Byon Combat, in collaboration with the UCC, developed and popularized the Kickstriking ruleset. The format combines techniques from punching, kicking, knees, and elbows, but imposes strict limitations on the duration of the clinch to ensure a high-paced and aggressive fight rhythm.[3]
