Animation VERSUS[a] is an upcoming fighting game based on the Animator vs. Animation web series and the Animation vs. spinoff franchise created by Alan Becker.[1] Development is currently being led by Muno, a Rivals of Aether modder.[citation needed]

The game is currently in development, with a targeted release date of 2028.[2]

Gameplay

All characters contain 10 normal attacks and 10 special attacks in their movesets, including air-dashes and cancel-based combos.[2]

The base roster consists of 12 playable characters, 6 of which were added due to reaching their respective stretch goals.

Development

A teaser trailer was released on Becker's channel on March 26, 2025, alongside a Kickstarter campaign.[3] The project had reached its funding within 5 hours, alongside all its stretch goals.[2] With the help of late pledges, they collectively raised more than a million dollars, and all of their stretch goals had been achieved (12 characters, 9 stages, interactive online lobbies, and 2 new modes, Roguelite and Story Mode). Development progress has been shared via monthly updates on the Kickstarter page, and through videos on the Animators vs. Games' YouTube channel.
