Aaron Sherinian is an American communications and public relations executive. He has held senior leadership roles in both corporate and cause spaces, including international philanthropy, Fortune 500 communications, and faith-based public affairs.[1][2]
Career
At the United Nations Foundation, Sherinian served as Vice President for Communications.[3] Reporting on his work during this period described communications work related to international development and humanitarian initiatives, along with philanthropic partnerships and public-facing campaigns.[4]
During Sherinian's tenure, The United Nations Foundation was involved in early promotion of GivingTuesday, the annual giving initiative launched in 2012 that has grown into a major fundraising day for nonprofits.[5][3] Deseret News reported that Sherinian was involved in the initiative's early development through his communications role at the Foundation.[3]
Following the United Nations Foundation, Sherinian joined Philip Morris International, and PRWeek reported on his move into a senior corporate communications role.[1] According to PRWeek, Sherinian was tasked with "reshaping views of the company held by NGOs and activists."[1]
In October 2021, Deseret Management Corporation appointed Sherinian Senior Vice President of Global Reach, according to contemporaneous reporting.[6] At the time President and CEO Keith McMullin cited "“Aaron’s passion for leveraging modern communications for positive global change” as a factor in his hiring.[6]
In January 2024, Sherinian moved from Deseret Management Corporation to a church assignment and was named Managing Director of Communications for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.[2][7]
Professional commentary
Sherinian has appeared in industry coverage focused on communications leadership and institutional credibility. In a 2023 feature, O’Dwyer’s PR News included him among communications executives discussing how large organizations communicate in a fragmented media environment.[8]
He has also written commentary on leadership and philanthropy for national outlets, including Newsweek.[9]
Education and background
Sherinian graduated from Brigham Young University.[4] A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a mission for the church in Milan, Italy.[3]
